This was our first time dining at Southern Mamas, prompted by a video on social media. Our overall experience was good. The food was okay. I opted for fish, although I went to try the chicken. The fish was well seasoned, but the batter was very cakey. All the veggies were well seasoned.
The waitress was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, very attentive. It was really busy- but we were still served quickly. The atmosphere was welcoming.

Was an absolutely horrible time. For the price you pay and what little you get, you would think it would of been some amazing good quality southern food. The mac and cheese was nothing but dried out burnt noodles. The fried chicken was extremely over cooked and dry. The greens beans tasted like sugar. I am not sure how old the banana pudding was but the bananas were black and slimy and sour tasting.

This place was fantastic. Waitress was on top of it making sure our drinks were full and fulfilling any needs we had. The food was amazing. My brother got the fried chicken and three sides and all were amazing. They flavor their meat very good and best green beans I have had besides my mamas.

Someone in the Cola food group recommended Southern Mama’s catering in Elgin and it didn’t disappoint. I’m not typically big on deep fried food, but the fried chicken was delicious. The pasta and veggies were really good! The google maps takes you to their old location. They moved across from the postal service.

I’ll start off with saying I really enjoyed my visit!!! This restaurant is appropriately named “Southern mamas” with its delicious southern comfort food that took me back to my childhood memories visiting my granny who used cook similar cuisine. All of the staff here where fast, friendly and went above and beyond to treat me and my group like family. 5 out of 5 on the food and service if you are looking for some true southern comfort this is the place to go! I’m allready looking forward to my next visit!! Yum

Stopped in for lunch, looking for some southern goodness and we surely found it! Lunch time rush but got our orders taken and food super fast. I tried the pulled pork BBQ and absolutely had to get the Mac and cheese. Sooo good, will definitely be coming by again when working in the area. Clean bathrooms and very friendly staff (I think our waitress was one of the actual Southern Mamas from the sign lol) Its great to see an independent spot doing well. 10/10

The sausage gravy was kind of bland, but the biscuits were thin, not dry, and had an amazing texture and flavor. My eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium), and the cheesy hashbrown casserole had a really nice flavor, but the potatoes needed to cook a bit longer. They were a bit too al dente for me. If you get the chance, try the fried chicken and gravy breakfast. The fried chicken was fire! Our server was pleasant, and she kept the coffee flowing. I will try this place again when I come back to town.

This restaurant has become a local favorite featuring specials for the day. I heard that their fried chicken was unbeatable and I agree. You pick two sides and I picked gravy over rice and potato salad. Very good! The staff was very attentive.

Kinda small inside, plenty of parking, staff was great, and food tastes great. I had the pull bbq pork plate with mac’n cheese, collars, and bacon cream corn plus rice an gravy, with sweet tea. Tea wasn’t too sweet, which they had sweetern on the table for you, I perfer it this way because you can add but can’t take away. I also ordered (2) family meals. I’ll give a solid 8.9 out 10. I would an will recommend people. Will be back.
