TL;DR: these bagels we’re excellent. Interior vibes were immaculate…bagel shops have a particular aesthetic (you know the kind) and everyone working at the shop understood the assignment (clocked in and locked to deliver on the various specificities of a wide array of hungry customers).
To the bagel novices: New York bagels are a more traditional yeast base. These puppies are sourdough.
Alright, like a scene out of a movie, my beautiful wife and I had an epiphany after enjoying our morning coffee…
Me: “bagels?”
we immediately lock eyes as the music crescendos, dramatic zoom from the camera and in unison “YEP!”
We’re staying with family in the Haymarket area (and I remember passing Time 4 Bagels the night before) so we jotted an order down on a paper towel, ink still wet, we were out the door and en route.
Upon arrival, the aroma, specifically from the Za’atar bagels (appropriately dusted with Middle Eastern spices) felt strangely familiar and endearing. It was both subtle and stated in the best way. That set the stage.
There was a line…to be expected from a quality establishment, but it moved quick.
My beautiful wife and I we’re curious about the wait time, but because every day is a great day, we we’re just excited about the opportunity to chow down on some beggies.
En route to the counter, we had to time to window shop.
▪️ crumb cake ✅
▪️ half dozen ✅
▪️ blueberry bagels were no longer available. No stress. Just gotta get after the worm a little earlier (yafeelme?) On to the next.
▪️ always one to take a recommendation, a local suggested the Za’atar bagel with plain cream cheese. ✅
▪️ we ordered five B.E.C. for the fam. ✅
Anna, working the register, was dialed in with our order especially for us newbs.
I had contemplated getting another coffee and I kinda wish I had. It looked good. It’s almost as if delivering quality coffee was just as imperative as delivering quality bagels. No second fiddle here.
By the time we completed ordering the cafe was slammed. My beautiful wife and I waited not even 10-min before calling out order number 79 (that’s us!).
My beautiful wife secured the loot (pictured) and we we’re off.
Before I HOUSED all those carbs, my phone ate first. I’m not a cheese guy (though after reading this review you may think otherwise ) but my Bacon and Egg on an everything was divine.
Here’s the thing that I really liked: The T4B didn’t end once we left the cafe. The B.E.C. bagels were wrapped in T4B branded paper and a cream cheese bagel was in this World Daily News (good news) parchment paper. It’s the little things.
My beautiful wife and I will def be back next time we’re in the area.
Both were vegetarian and in everything begal with jhalapeno cream cheese both were good in taste !! Will love to try more options from their menu.
I’ve been coming here for breakfast and lunch a few days a week. I’m totally hooked. Everything is absolutely AMAZING! The bagels are perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I’ve never had a bagel this good before.
My go-to is the steak, egg, and cheese bagel. it’s next-level delicious. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming; it honestly feels like home when I walk in. Plus, they’re super quick, which is impressive considering how fresh everything is.
The quality is worth every single penny. I can’t recommend this place enough!
I get them plain ‘in a bag,’ uncut and untoasted so they stay soft inside and I can enjoy them for a few days. Just add cream cheese and yum! I’m sure they’d be amazing toasted too, but mine never last that long
But dang these are the best bagels I’ve had. They have a good crisp on the outside and a really good chew inside. Honestly, the flavor is what really makes the difference to me. They don’t taste like plain bread and they aren’t overly complex either. In my humble (and not a New Yorker) opinion, they are fantastic. OMG salted rosemary is so good.
Also I think it is important to know that the owners (great people and great family) opened this store as locals and community members. We are full of franchises and corporate joints around here so it’s so nice to see a small business people “go for it”
So, if you haven’t tried them yet, please do go by (I really think you will enjoy it).
