Other than some nostalgic photos, this was not the Leona’s we knew. The dining room is small. The tables on the perimeter are booths along the windows with small tables with two chairs by them. We were three people and it was way too small when the pizza came. They also have high tops which are probably better. This restaurant has only been open for six months but the chairs speak a different story with rust on the legs of the metal chairs abd warn wood on other chairs. The vents up towards the ceiling were very dirty, too.
The bathroom was small, too, but clean.
The service was very strange. We sat ourselves as instructed by a sign. The server was also the bartender, busboy, food runner – which is fine but we had to order at the bar and then had to pay right when we ordered. I found that strange.
We ordered a sausage pizza and garlic bread. They forgot about the bread and instead of asking if we still wanted it, brought it after the pizza when it should’ve been served before as an appetizer. We really didn’t want it at that point but just took it to go. The pizza was really good for which I was very happy because the feel of the dining room didn’t give good vibes of anything being good.
I may or may not have it again. If I do, it’ll be carry out for sure.
There was a ton of sauce on TOP of everything.
I have never had a Detroit style pizza like this, and never want one again.
Sauce belongs under the cheese on a Detroit style pizza.
I would prefer jets over this.
Last time I was here I got a thin crust with sausage and mushrooms. It was like they whipped a can of mushrooms on top of the pizza after it was cooked and called it a day. The mushrooms were wet, rubbery, and gross.
Strike 2 leonas. I won’t be back.
Thanks Leona’s . Linda the manager checked on us a few times to ensure our dinner met our satisfaction and if we needed anything else.
Ordered a bbq chicken thin crust. It came out fast which was actually not a good thing. The pizza crust was sort of raw in the middle. Pointed it out to them and they took it back to be thrown back in oven.
It came out piping hot now but middle still weird. Crust was never close to crisp. Was told they get their crust premade. And it must be a bad batch. So no home made crust here
And partially raw. Can we say food poisoning?
Positive was the toppings were plentiful and tasted good.
We noticed it was very warm in the restaurant and saw the thermostat was at 81. Not comfortable. They have a fan blasting near the pop machine.
Total was 40 for a 14 inch pizza 2 drinks and tip.
We got a deep dish with sauteed garlic, mushrooms, and sausage. I LOVED it, but my husband said the garlic was too strong for him – so be weary if you’re not a huge garlic fan.
Got a thin crust, half pepp-mushroom-bacon, half pepp-black olive, very good. Bacon tasted different, not bad/weird, not sure if it’s applewood/hickory?
Loved the mozzarella sticks and buffalo chicken rolls!
