I stopped in for lunch and had an excellent experience. After a long week, I wanted a place to relax and unwind, and Bert & The Elephant was the perfect choice. Bert was welcoming, friendly, and personable, which made me feel like more than just another customer. My server was polite and attentive, the beer was great, and the food was delicious. This café has a warm, laid-back atmosphere that makes it an ideal spot to enjoy a good beer and meal. The beer I had might just be my new #1 favorite ever.

Great atmosphere on a Saturday night. Despite being very busy, the service was excellent. I loved my smash burger and fries and the appetizers were also delicious.

If I could give this place six stars, I would.

This establishment is focused on an excellent customer experience from beginning to end.

The five stars for the food is not just for the tasty and elegant choices on the menu, but for the amazing selection of Belgian beers, which are poured and presented expertly in the genuine European style.

The five stars for service are not just for the attentive and skilled bartenders and wait staff, but for the owner Bert, who is there more often than not and is always focused on the enjoyment of his guests.

The five stars for atmosphere are for the dazzling collection of custom beer glasses above the bar, which are backlit in such a way that the appearance is of a beautiful chandelier.

I love sitting at the bar, trying a new selection, enjoying the atmosphere, and learning something new about beer and brewing.

I’ve been here multiple times, and I have never had an experience that wasn’t superlative.

My very highest recommendation.

One of the top three bar/restaurants I’ve ever visited (out of at least a thousand…I’m old and like good drinks and food.) A friend (a Belgian beer aficionado with serious homebrew credentials) recommended it to me, so I knew going in it would be wonderful, and it exceeded his glowing endorsement. The food is curated to go with the beer. The portions are ideal size and the presentation is clean and focused. The selection of Belgian beer is outstanding and the glassware for each beer is provided. No Chimay in a Delirium Tremens glass here! My favorite of the evening (a Monday) which I enjoyed with my wife was the Pauwel Kwak served in a beautiful pale wood glass holder (there is an interesting story behind the glass holder.) Finally, the service was attentive without being intrusive. Best of all, Bert, the owner shared his formidable knowledge about Belgian beer in a kind, humble, generous manner. The whole experience was top-notch!

My husband and I came across this bar. What a genuine surprise and delight! We sat at the bar, server was great answered all my questions and made suggestions. Their music selection was amazing every song was perfect. I absolutely love gnomes- I should say I have an obsession with gnomes. There were a few scattered throughout the bar, I struck up a conversation with was the owner. Such a nice and friendly person. I offered to buy a glass with a gnome on it and he accepted but then gave me a little gnome chalkboard. This little gesture made my night and brought tears to my eyes. I can’t say enough about this bar and the owner. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and stop in!!!

We had an amazing time here. I had the red curry Moules Frites and it was fantastic. The curry was so good, I wish I had realized sooner that the fries were perfect for sopping up the curry. Once you finish up the clams and take out the steps just dump those fries in!

Great selection of beers, most I had never tried before. I decided on starting with a Saison intending to try different beer but had a second Saison it was that good.

Staff was incredibly friendly! Even got to speak to the owner, Bert. I didn’t bring up the elephant.

Ever since Bert moved downtown, I’ve somehow managed to miss this place. Today, after about a year, I finally made it back for a quick lunch. The poutine was amazing! I love how they serve the gravy separately, so you can either dip your fries and cheese curds in it or dump it all over them. The gravy had a rich, delicious taste with a hint of garlic and pepper. I definitely plan to come back again!

Highly recommend the Belgium meatballs & Beef Carbonnade! The cheese curds & croquettes were to die for. The service was rapid and the owner even came and talked to us, he was very kind! Great place for awesome beer and the atmosphere is cozy and perfect for talking.

Wow, it was not what I was expecting. First, I am NOT a beer drinker. I met friends here before a show at Tellus 360. The food was fantastic! We were given a sample to try as they were out of the sangria some of us ordered – we were given a Belgium fruit beer. It was light body, had a mild sweetness, was naturally carbonation, and had a low alcohol content. It was absolutely delicious ( Fruli strawberry beer). The owner came to our table and chatted with us, gave us the history of the Belgium beer scene- and was very personable and friendly. All staff were equally friendly, and they were able to provide separate checks for our group. Definitely check them out, beer drinker or not – they just might convert you! I am a fan of Fruli!

Absolutely loved this place. So much attention to detail. Each beer is served in glassware specific to the style of beer. The glassware is on display with LED lights as a backdrop and forms a chandelier-like appearance. The owners are so warm and welcoming, the beer selection is vast. Also cocktails and wine for those that don’t enjoy beer. If you choose to dine, definitely get the fried chicken, the best I’ve ever tasted. Crisp and juicy. Also the ambience is so inviting, lighting is so spot on. Finally probably the best bathroom wall paper I’ve ever seen. ❤️❤️❤️
