We had been to the Arrivederci located in Hillcrest and really enjoyed the food and service at that location. We figured we would get the same at the Rancho San Diego location, but unfortunately we were not impressed.
I ordered some salmon with pesto sauce and when my plate arrived the basil mixture had totally separated from the olive oil, leaving clumps of green islands floating in an ocean of olive oil. The amount of olive oil on my plate was off-putting, especially since it then also coated my vegetables and potatoes.
My husband’s dinner was a little more successful, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. (Some shrimp in red sauce, over noodles.) We were surprised to realize when the busboy was clearing our dishes that no one had stopped by our table during our meal to ask how everything tasted or to ask if we needed anything else.
Overall, we were really disappointed. I guess we’ll have to go back to the Hillcrest location if we want to go to this restaurant again.

Surprise hidden Italian restaurant. Just around the corner from the theaters in Rancho San Diego, before Target. After catching a movie with a friend, we decided we needed some dinner. Since my friend had eaten there before and it was just around the corner, we went there. Delicious! I had Farfalle Vodka & Salmone (salmon with bowtie pasta) which is in a very light red sauce. The salmon was perfect and there was a generous amount, too. The sauce was delicious, very light but still tomato-ish. My friend got a dish with 3 kinds of sausage in a spicy sauce with some kind of pasta (sorry, it might have been penne) that was one of the specials. She liked it a lot and I had a taste and really liked it too.
At the start of the meal, they bring the bread with some kind of red sauce (not like a pasta sauce) that had chunks of tomato in it. Hard to describe, but it was very good with just a little bit of spiciness.
I would have given them 5 stars but the chairs are not too comfortable if you want to linger and chat over dinner. But if you don’t care about that, then by all means give them a try!
The service was really good, too! Very nice, friendly and attentive.

Food was delicious and the server was very friendly, even though he was the only one working and was very busy. We have 5 children and the portions were big enough for 2 of them to share. Will definitely come back.

Ok, this is one of the best Italain restaurants in the county. There is nothing on the menu that isn’t at least good. Something’s are near heaven! Deserts and a full bar. What else could you ask for. Plus the Reid a nice movie theater just around the corner.

Home made Gnocchi is amazing. There seasonal pumpkin raviolis are also out of this world. They serve beer, wine, and hard liquor. Kid friendly.

Literally the most exquisite dining experience I have had in years. All the elements are there; the music, the food, and Giovanni is the most accomplished waiter I have ever seen.
