Heard about the owners of this place buying another place in South Bend (hasn’t opened yet) so we decided to try this location out…. FANTASTIC!!! Best burger I’ve had in a long time. Fries were perfectly crispy, fried mushrooms reminded me of old school Snow Peak IYKYK!!! Onion rings PERFECT!!! That burger with so many toppings to choose from was seasoned with a crispy skirt! Inside dining could use some updating, but you should go to this place for the food and service.

Wife and I both thought the burger was very good. Bun was slightly toasted and you chose your toppings. Grilled onions and mushrooms for me. Fries were crispy and tasty, not seasoned which is a winner with my wife. Atmosphere isn’t the best, but the food was tasty. Prices were reasonable.

My husband and I wanted to treat ourselves to a mini-date tonight, and this was the place we picked. As soon as he said he was in the mood for a burger, I remembered that I had wanted to try this place after seeing their sign advertising smash burgers. And let me just say: I am SO GLAD that we came here. All the reviews saying that going to another burger place is a waste of money are NOT exaggerating – the food here is epic. There isn’t another burger place in Elkhart County that even comes close to being as good as this one, and nothing I can write will do this place justice.
The fries are absolutely perfect, the onion rings are crunchy, the burger was fire, and the service was phenomenal. Don’t be fooled by the exterior… it’s a bit run down outside – like all the Penguin Points were – but the inside is clean and in good condition. (And for those who grew up around here, it’s a downright nostalgic experience to be in such a familiar and recognizable restaurant, listening to the sound of the fryer bubbling while the scent of delicious burgers fills the air.)
Without a doubt, this is now my favorite restaurant. Whether you’re traveling through or you’re a local, put the Food Shack on your list of places to stop and you will not be disappointed.

I have ordered from them twice off of DoorDash. The first time I thought it might’ve been a fluke that I didn’t get the right stuff or they may have been out of something and substituted it. So I ordered it again today if you look at the pictures you can see the mushrooms they advertise on DoorDash verse the mushrooms you get. They forgot the milkshake and gave me a coke instead of the sweet tea that I ordered. The mushroom burger also does not come with cheese like the pictures.

My first time trying yesterday I got the chili cheese fries and the portions are huge for the price! The guy at the counter was trying a new chili recipe and was kind enough to let me try it…. Amazing btw. I could tell the food was made with love will be back soon! ❤️

Food was really really good. Cashier was really friendly. They have really good customer service. I highly recommend the ELKHART sneaky link hot dog and the chilly cheese fries there were alot for tha price. 🙂

Tonight was my first time trying out this place after passing by way too many times. The burger and onion rings I got were fresh and so good! The lady working the drive thru was so welcoming and friendly! We will definitely be back 🙂

This place used to be great. After waiting 20 minutes and seeing no one even starting my order, I asked for a refund. They were out of ice, my drink choice and lids. The employees were not friendly and we’re arguing and swearing at each other in the back. It looks like it may be under new management. The new manager didn’t seem to concerned when me, and the previous two customers asked for a refund.

The burger at Food Shack was huge, juicy, and packed with flavor — easily the best burger in town, especially for the price! The hot dog was just as fire, and I love that the bun was perfectly toasted. You can tell they care about the details. Great job, Food Shack! I’ll definitely be back!
