First off, the menu is super appealing—lots of tasty-sounding options. Ordering at the kiosk was a little slow, but since we were the first ones there, it wasn’t a big deal.
We got the braised pork bowl, the short rib koja (because seriously, when do short ribs ever disappoint?), and the soy fried chicken wings. But it took 25 minutes for our food to come out, and no one else was waiting. There were three people working, so I’m not sure why it took that long. At least the seating area is pretty nice with good vibes.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the hype. The wings were hot, so they seemed freshly cooked, but the short rib and braised pork were just scooped out of a big container without even being warmed up. I know because I watched them make it. Plus, everything was drenched in sauce—not really my style.
The wings were decent, though. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside… but again, smothered in super sticky, sweet sauce.
For the wait time and the price, I definitely expected better. ♂️
There are two kiosks for ordering here and also a register for cash or if you need help. It took less than ten minutes for my order to be ready. I had the short rib rice bowl and ordered it with sauce on the side and no kimchi. They followed my modifications. However, even with the sauce on the side, the short rib tasted a bit too salty. The rice was fine and I didn’t like the salad. I’ve had a better short rib bowl from a different Koja Kitchen location.
Overall, the food here isn’t bad, but I recommend looking around the Public Market before deciding on this.
Just shut this place down if it’s going to be this bad for service and quality.
They don’t offer Beef Koja but the offer Beef on the Kamkazi fries¿ what?
Husband used the kiosk to order, looking up the menu doesn’t help, people seem to post images and menu for the other Koja in Berkeley. Due to this confusion hubby and I argued what they offered here. He was right they don’t have the Beef Koja. Will not be coming back but will come back to try other spots here.
Pros: fresh and delicious, perfect solution if you’re indecisive about getting Asian food or a burger
Cons: sometimes a bit of a wait for food
