This place has some delicious soul food and really large portions. It looks like a small family restaurant with attention to detail. I ordered the meatloaf, Mac and cheese, and yams with cornbread for lunch. The meatloaf is tender and moist. Not my favorite with brown gravy, (I’m more of a red sauce kind of gal) but it was ok. The Mac and cheese was cheesy with some type of herbs? added in it for additional flavor. Pretty tasty. The yams were my favorite and the dish came with a side of hot water cornbread. This place really stands out with customer service. The staff make you feel at home and like you are a part of their own family. The name suits this place well as you are blessed with good food, good service, and it really does feed your soul.

We came from Little Rock to Shreveport for the weekend and wanted to try some new food! We love soul food and try to find a new spot every chance we can. This restaurant was absolutely delicious!!! The smoked turkey leg was so tender it quite literally came straight off the bone (picture included) the dressing, greens, peas, mac n cheese was all so good and seasoned so well!! The man working the counter was very sweet and kind. Restaurant was very clean and quiet! Also, the price for the quality, taste, and all of the ingredients they use in each dish is top tier! We will definitely come back when we travel here again. Thanks so much!

Wow! Wow! Wow! I’ve eaten at hundreds of soul and country food restaurants across the United States. This place belongs with the best I’ve ever been to. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and juicy. The flavors were fantastic and perfectly seasoned. The corn bread alone was worth the trip, piping hot, sweet, fluffy! I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want great service and better food.

Friends and I ate here because of the good reviews. We were so disappointed. Mac and cheese was listed on the menu as a side but when we ordered it they were out of it. I got the stuffed turkey leg with dressing, turnip greens and fried okra. The turkey leg was smoked and fall off the bone tender. It was delicious. The dressing was terrible. It was something akin to Stove Top. It didn’t have onions, celery, bell peppers or eggs. There was something on top of it that was supposed to be giblet gravy.. It didn’t do anything to enhance the flavor. The greens were from the can and they were cold. The fried okra was good. It was fried in cornmeal and was piping hot. The cornbread was awful. One friend had smothered pork chops and she said they were not good. Another friend said the candied yams were too sweet. The food left a lot to be desired since Louisiana is known for its good food. The food is served in styrofoam take out containers and you get really small plastic utensils. The only dessert was strawberry cake made from cake mix and canned icing. It was awful. I couldn’t eat it. I ordered water and I had to remind the waiter about five times to bring my water. He was friendly but not very efficient. He said he is from Chicago. That explains why the food is so bad. He didn’t learn how to cook southern cuisine.

We had a top-notch experience here all the way around. I can’t hardly explain how good the food was and how friendly the owner was. The menu appears to have different items on different days. Today was either ox tail, fried pork chops, beef tips and rice. Someone in our group mentioned he didn’t want any of these, and the owner asked his wife to cook chicken wings. Not on today’s menu. Each meat came with a choice of mashed potatoes or rice and 2 additional sides, and cornbread. Not only were the meats fantastic, but the sides couldn’t have been better. Between the three of us, we got cabbage, fried okra, yams, and okra and tomatoes. All were exceptional. Friendly service and great kindness all the way around. They had so many people come and order take out while we were there, and each was greeted as a friend. You can dine in, it has a small diner restaurant charm. No room for dessert because of the abundant food quantities, but they had those too. I’m just sorry we are just visiting and can’t eat here often. It’s reasonably priced as well. All our 3 meals and water, 45 bucks. You will go away happy and full. Give them a try, and how can you go wrong by supporting people who Walk By Faith.

Great place for a quick lunch or dinner. Daily specials with different dishes. Their pepper bowls sell out very fast. You are greeted at the door and given great customer service throughout your visit. I love the loaded fries but there are several dishes worth trying.

I hate I have lived only a mile away, and didn’t know this wonderful restaurant was open so nearby. I want to shout it’s praises from the rooftops. Now, there is a blessing in being such a popular business. And WBF soul foods kitchen and catering is not only Blessed, but HIGHLY FAVORED!
One way I found out was on my first visit, on a Friday at 1:30 pm -well after the “lunch rush.” Well, the hungry folks “in the know” didn’t get the memo … And they were all in line ahead of me!
But … Oooo! It’s worth the wait! You can read in all the other reviews about the stellar customer service, the sparkling cleanliness of the restaurant, and the delicious authentic down home flavors of the menu items they serve.
The messages I want to impart are these:
1. For the serving sizes you get here, you won’t find another restaurant in Shreveport whose prices are so reasonable. It has become very expensive to eat out, and quality and qualities have suffered. Not here at Walking By Faith.
2. The evidence of their love for the Lord and each other and their customers is plain for all to see and hear. I just don’t know of any other small businesses (even here in the Bible belt) who proclaim their adoration so out loud and proud. The name of the restaurant is merely a sparkled reflection of this love. And you can taste it in their food!
3. They really are an inspiration in another important way. I think we as citizens really need to get back to supporting small businesses, rather than franchises that are corporate. Every dollar that we spend in a small business comes back into our local community and helps our local citizens.
So if you ever read this far, I not only thank you. But I do also highly recommend you go visit Walking in Faith kitchen and catering on South Lakeshore road in Shreveport Louisiana. You won’t be sorry 🙂

On my Granny, this is the “Best Soul Food” joint I have been to. Real talk, great atmosphere, very inviting, cozy down south vibes. IYKYK. There was no salt or pepper shakers on the table, because the food was that good. Didn’t need it. Trust when you have a Malachi and Willie in the back you already know what it is. “Walk by faith” is a great name because, if you don’t have faith, you will need some assistance walking up out of there. Thanks to the entire crew. I had a great time there.
Blessings
