The food was good. I went with some friends for brunch and I would recommend arriving early. We arrived not too long after they opened, 9 a.m., and there was a line already. I didn’t keep track of the time, but we did wait for a good amount of time before we were able to get to the front of the line. Their process is ordering the food and paying ahead of time at the counter and we can go find a seat afterwards. They do bring the food to us but they’re not a typical restaurant where they would serve all the food together, which was fine with me and my group.
My friends were raving about the Kimchi Toast and I didn’t believe them so I ordered the Bada Bing sandwich. This sandwich was still good, but the Kimchi Toast was much better. I did order a side of the Kimchi cream cheese to dip my chips in, and that main ingredient was very tasty.
The place was quite small, with very limited seating. I would say, coming in with a big group is not recommended. I did see couples sitting with other people due to the limited seating.
Overall, the wait is long and not much seating but I would definitely go back though, for their Kimchi Toast.

Having lived on the North Side years and never visited, I was floored with the quality of the food. I found it hard to believe it somewhere this good was so close to my old apartment. I tried the Hot Pickle Chicken thinking it sounded like a fairly typical deli style sandwich – and it was anything but. The sauce is out of this world. My wife tried the Turkish Eggs which were prepared to perfection. If I had anything negative to say, the smoothies are a bit expensive for what you get, but even there they taste wonderful.

We stopped in for a quick breakfast. Orders are placed at the counter and delivered to your table. I got the Madame & Pepe breakfast sandwich. It was made with
grilled shaved ham, sunny egg, parmesan creme, on a Fayze’s croissant. It was also served with a mixed green salad with a vinaigrette dressing. I added a mimosa to my meal which was also a generous size. The portion size was HUGE. It was delicious and we will be back!

Amazing place!
I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich — it was super tasty. It came with soup. I got a cheesy potato soup with dill, possibly cauliflower — incredibly flavorful! The atmosphere is lively and youthful, the place was packed during lunchtime. I waited about 10 minutes for the food — pretty fast considering how busy it was. The interior design is stylish, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of the best spots around.

Read reviews. Sounded good. Had GF options. Then when I asked about scrambled egg whites since I cannot eat yolks the waitress said the kitchen was too small. What??!!!! It said on the menu could accommodate. We had already orders coffee and a tea for $9. Not even lattes. I spoke to the manager about dietary accommodations mentioned on the menu. He said he would check with the kitchen. I said we have already decided to leave. We were not even served and have to pay $9 for drinks we didn’t even start drinking. We were given to go cups, apology and no need to pay. Disappointed. I wanted to try the tamale dish!

I’m back on the road again, looking for some of the best food and drinks throughout the midwest! The first stop was La Crosse, Wisconsin, where I was able to catch up with a good friend of mine. When we were talking about where to go for lunch, she said she had heard all about this restaurant, but hadn’t been. With the name like The Damn Tasty, we figured we better check it out and see if it lives up to its name. It was a little hard to find because they don’t have the most obvious sign directing you to their space in the strip of shops and we did have to put our name on the waiting list, but as you can see, it was WELL WORTH IT. The menu was fairly limited with some breakfast options and lunch options, but you could tell that the menu was curated and it was limited because they focused on doing everything well. Let’s get down to the food…
We ordered the Kimchi Toast with kimchi cream cheese, thick cut bacon, fried egg, chili crisp, dressed greens, grilled sourdough. Honestly, this was 10/10. A little messy to cut up, but holy cow the flavor…
Bánh Mì Burger with a potsticker pork patty, pickled veggies, shaved cucumber, garlic mayo, chili crisp, cilantro, fried egg, seeded roll! Another one of their best sellers and I can see why.
Finally, we had the French Toast with blueberry compote, lemon curd, honeyed whipped cream, cinnamon crunch. I guess we figured we needed a little bit of sweet with all of our savory!

Across the board, this place was truly damn tasty! Great food, great coffee, clean restaurant, and friendly staff. This is one of those kinda-unsuspecting top-tier restaurants tucked in a pleasantly humble building. I can’t wait to come back!

The Damn Tasty definitely lived up to its name when we visited around noon on a Sunday. Everything arrived hot and packed with flavor. While the place was busy and not big on elbow room, the vibe was still somehow relaxed. Great people and fresh food on the North side. Represent!

Fantastic brunch spot! Would highly recommend the tasty tamale or the kimchi toast. I will definitely be back! It is a small restaurant, so be prepared for a wait during prime brunch hours on the weekend.
