Everybody knows about Farina! It’s not a hidden gem, but it sure is a GEM! One of my fav sandwich spots in Philly! The Damien is hot on the menu and hot in the mouth! Not super spicy but a great combo of flavors with the chicken cutlet and jalapeños. Also tried the meatball sub soaked in vodka sauce. This one will make your eyes water, esp if you’re really hungry! Great spot for fast takeout / pickup. Prices are great for the amount of Italian deliciousness! Staff is sweet and informative and can give you the recs for what to try next. Also the place smells amazing with all those Italian spices! It’s a beauty and worth checking out during your work break!!

The sandwiches are the real deal. Got there around 2pm today (Sunday) just a few people ahead of me in line. Ordered the spicy Augustine and the Damien. Originally was told they were out of cutlets, but the woman taking orders found me outside while I was waiting and said they had enough cutlets to make me one (I guess the guy making sandwiches didn’t know if he had enough since he was doing phone orders and call ahead orders as well). Great meat to bread ratio on both sandwiches. The Augustine was slightly spicy but delicious. And the Damien was out of this world delicious – the tang of the pepper cuts through the heaviness of the sandwich, which makes for a perfect bite. I came to Philly on a sandwich tour and this by far was my favorite on this trip. Unfortunately they’re closed on Monday or I’d make another visit before my flight home. Very fair prices as well with both sandwiches at $8 plus tax.
Tip: get there early so you don’t run the risk of them running out of cutlets

Let me start out by saying this place is delicious. You can tell that every ingredient that goes into these sandwiches is fresh and high quality. Some of the highlights were the prosciutto, the pestso, and the red peppers. You can never go wrong with a seeded roll. The ingredients all work together harmoniously without any of them being overpowering. The cutlets have great texture, and I overheard him mention that they aren’t pounded out; they are sliced. They are still every bit thin and crunchy. The service was also incredible. The guys were friendly and welcoming, and you could really sense the passion being put forth into their food. Will definitely be back to try different variations of the sandwiches.
