The service was also excellent — friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish.
The restaurant is connected to taco Diablo so the appetizers that came with the table were chips and salsa which didn’t really go with anything on the menu.
Overall I thought the ambiance was good but the food left something to be desired. I would come here again if I was focused on catching up with a friend (since it’s quite and secluded) but wouldn’t come for the food.
There are several regular menu items I like a lot (miso udon, bulgogi big bop bowl, etc), but today I tried a special and really loved it (pictured, a Japanese-style curry with katsu chicken). I’ll be back regardless, but I’d love to see that as new menu addition and I look forward to more specials in the future, too.
As new resident of Evanston, I’ve been eating my way through the city! Lulu’s was a choice spot for a casual Sunday dinner for visiting friends. The four of us walked in around 5:30 and were immediately seated.
3 of us were interested in, and ordered, the same dish. Panang Curry Noodles for $14.95.
Panang yellow coconut curry with shrimp, basil & green beans came in large bowls with enough sauce to coat the luscious noodles, veggies and super tender shrimp. It wasn’t a soupy dish like most curries are. Everything about the bowl was tasty and fresh.
A noteworthy appetizer we shared was the Peanut – Sesame Noodles. Ground peanuts, sesame paste, scallions and radish sprouts with super thin noodles that didn’t clump together vanished quickly!
Lulu’s is now on my radar for future visits!
