I had just assumed they were taking a break during the slow season, but you could always roll into Bambolina / Kokeshi and ask if it’s coming back.

A true Salem treat! Each Wednesday morning on Facebook, Back Alley Bacon posts a single menu item, the price (cash only, exact change) and the secret password.
Be at the side door [WELL BEFORE] 5:00. When the light goes on, push the intercom and give the password! They will ask you name and how many you want. Now switch to the other side of the door line and wait for your name to be called.
Amazing and delightful meal based around bacon and pork!
Great quality, huge portions and truly a fun dining experience!!

We came up from Boston to have the whole experience and the food was great! The reason we are giving it 4 stars is because we wanted the whole experience and unfortunately, no pig masks. We would still recommend and plan on coming back at some point.

Very fun experience waiting for the password to be poster, looking for the red light then saying the super secret password. For 10 bucks we got quite a good meal out of it and some fun.

Back Alley Bacon is, from what I’ve experienced, a very good restaurant that uses exclusivity to spread throughout Salem culture. And it works fantastically. Of the times I’ve been, the food has always been excellent, and the lines have always been longer than the food supply. The price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. It feels to me that whoever is behind Back Alley Bacon both cares about making and takes the time to deliver the best affordable food they can. Although I may be a bit blinded by the fun factor of the secret society-esque ordering method, I totally recommend Back Alley Bacon.

Absolutely unique experience with exquisite gastronomic satisfaction!

All I will say is, Google this place and look for news articles. News articles will be able to explain what it is. In short, it’s a speakeasy style food stand that is secretive and mysterious. You need to know the password and have exact change in order to get your food. There is only one item on the menu, which changes week to week. Did I mention this place was only open one day a week?

THIS IS NOT A JOKE!

Follow them on Facebook to get the secret code. Bring exact change. Give it to the guy in the pig mask. Yes, a pig mask. I was one of the first 10 people there, so I got a free sticker with my meal.

The meal this past Wednesday (the day they are open) was a pork parmasan sandwich, with Back Alley Bacon root beer (sorry, not bacon flavored) and Smart popcorn. It was absolutely delicious! The pork was juicy and tender, the marinara bold, and cibatta garlic bread was satisfying.

Be in the know! Locals are loving this place! Even politicians from Salem are seen frequenting this place getting in line for a sacred pork-based meal!

We were really excited to have this mysterious food experience, but it was tough keeping track of when they were “open” — By the time we figured it out, they had already sold out. 🙁 I don’t want to rate them unfairly since we didn’t get to try the food, but it sucks that we missed our chance!

Awesome gimmick! There’s only one item on the menu each week and you won’t know what it is until you get there, but you can bet it’ll be high quality! They’re serious about their pig!

Oink’n good. Best take out of the month award. Curry soup was spicy as advertised, delicious tender pork cutlet, bacon and other toppings.

Tonight’s meal was the best; however, I was a little disappointed when I brought a first-timer with me, hyped BAB up and they spoke the password, the door opened, and…NO PIG MASKS! Kind’ve a letdown.

Cool idea. First time trying. Root beer was great. Maybe Cape Cod chips instead of Lays.
