On Sunday night, my wife and I chose to go to Hiro 88, we were just visiting from out of town and after receiving multiple good reviews about the restaurant we had agreed it would be a nice spot to give a try. When we first arrived the atmosphere seemed a little busy the two young ladies at the front didnt seem to acknowledge us and it appeared that their conversation was more important than the guest. That immediately gave us a bad impression but we were still willing to give it a shot. The one hostess with her hair down helped get us seated but as she took us to our table, her demeanor was uninviting and gave the impression that we were an inconvenience. When we were greeted by our server they were extremely friendly and polite. We had noticed we were missing a menu so we did have to ask for that. The food was amazing and the service provided by our server was much better than when we first arrived. I would probably not visit again or recommend to many other people for the sole fact that I believe first impressions are very important and ours was unfortunately less than positive.

We had a nice experience at Hiro 88 and were lucky to make it in before happy hour ended. As being a new place to us the number of menus was overwhelming, there was 3 and we passed on the drink menu.
First time here we played it safe. Cali roll, a sweet chili something roll, and chicken, lettuce wraps. The appetizer crab Rangoon came out and we both liked it a lot. Chicken lettuce wraps arrived shortly after the appetizer. A lot was going on in those chicken lettuce wraps and they were very good lots of small diced vegetables, chicken, and noodles.
We enjoyed both of the sushi rolls. They were well constructed and held up. The ingredients were fresh and we were impressed. I know next time I can order some complex rolls.
Hailey was our server and did a great job stopping at the tables at the right times and not too much.

I keep trying this place in the hope that it gets better but sadly, it does not. Today we did take out for lunch. My entire order was there so points for that. The sushi was fine, no issues but you can find better in town. My bigger issue was with the lack of flavor in the entree. The noodles and chicken just had pale look but I hoped it would taste good but nope. With that I give up ♀️

Food was great but the server was especially awesome. Kevin was very polite. As a woman eating alone, he made me feel comfortable and safe. Every time I come here he gives great service. Will definitely be back.

I love Hiro 88 in Omaha so stopped by this one while I was in town. I was hungry and a little concerned if I would get enough to eat with the Bento Box for lunch so I ordered the 3 instead of the 2. Turns out, the two probably would have done and the 3 was plenty. The salad was sweet and delicious. The 3 items I got for the box were Tempura, Spicy California, and Sweet Chili Crab. The sushi was labeled as spicy but I did not it particularly spicy. That was easily remedied with wasabi so I had no complaints as the flavor profile was excellent. Overall, a clean and well-kept place with excellent service and delicious food – I definitely recommend!

I come to this location often however I won’t be coming back. I called to ask if we could still come in for reverse happy hour 40 minutes prior to closing and they said yes. When we got there, me and 3 of my girlfriends, a couple was ordering and got seated. After the waitress came back and took our order and they did not seat us. Instead had us wait standing, then gave us our drinks to go. I asked if we could be seated they told us they made our order to go because they were almost closing AFTER I had already paid with a 20% tip. The audacity. Horrible customer service. Never coming back. I paid over $60 and gave a generous tip just to be told they made our order to go.

I used to think Hiro 88 had good, quality food. But today, after I had a to-go order, I don’t think I’ll go back. My sweet chili crab roll tasted fishy and the teriyaki beef was burned to charcoal. It made me wonder if they gave me yesterday’s leftovers since I ordered early in the day. I should have returned it but I was already across town when I sat down to eat.

Manager at this location has many places where he falls short. I do not know the name of the manager I spoke to. But I have a SEVERE allergy to gluten (celiac disease), when I get any gluten in my food (even a crumb) I have a systemic inflammatory response which is in credibly painful for about 3 weeks (give or take depending on how much gluten is in it). I went to this restaurant tonight which is known to be a place that is safe for allergies. When I ordered my food I specified that I needed gluten free food. Then when the food came I asked if it was gluten free and the food runner said yes. The server (which the manager informed me was 2 days out of training, not her fault) did not ask for allergies and the food runner did not double check the ticket. But I offered the information and double checked to make sure I was okay. After eating two pieces of chicken I was informed that it was in fact not gluten free. The server apologized. The manager was not informed (his words, felt like a lie, but I can’t be sure). The food was not taken off of our bill, but since I was with company I waited until they left to talk to the manager to not make a scene. When I brought up how serious of an issue this was and how it could be life threatening to other people and requested that the server and food runner go through extra training, he kept cutting me off and saying he completely understood the disease and the training was extensive. He said he would talk to the server, but kept going back to “the training is extensive” and then said he wasn’t even her manager for the night. This upset me because I wanted the manager to listen to me and not keep interrupting me and making excuses. He did say that she had just completed training. Being new at a job can be extremely stressful, but if this was a peanut allergy, the consequences could have been deadly for that person. And if the training was so extensive, then it should be fresh in her mind. The manager was just very rude and dismissive and now it makes me question if I should ever come to this location again or even this chain of restaurants if this is how a manager treats a medical issue. I am a nursing student and will likely be out of commission for the next week at least and this is impacting my schooling. If I was pregnant then this could have caused a miscarriage. I don’t feel that this was handled with enough grace or gravity. I do not blame the server or food runner for their shortcomings. Since multiple people were at fault I am 100% in the belief that this was a management issue.
