Noodles Fresh is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in Berkeley. It’s never very crowded when I go, which is a pity because they deserve more business. They have a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options. Try the vegetarian goose– I’d never had anything like it before, but it is extremely savory and well balanced. The lunch special is extremely high value for the money: a large bowl of noodle soup for only 10.95 (12.40 after tax).
I’ve tried the Shanghai double happiness and the chili fish (veg option subs tofu). They’re both delicious.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is also nice. I love looking at all the teapots and teacups on the walls

Gourmet Healthy Chinese food from Wenyan & Tom Petersen and their master chefs – now in 3 locations. I go back again and again when I’m in town. Tom plays cool jazz in El Cerrito Noodles Fresh. Last night at their Berkeley Downton location I had one of my favorite vegetable dishes “Half Half” with Garlic + Brown Rice and good hot tea. Wenyan also offers connoisseur High Mountain Chinese Tea served traditionally. Highly reccomend!

I posted but on the wrong location. I ordered pick up and the food was delicious. So many items that reminded me of my ma’s cooking that I hadn’t seen on other menus. For example the hainan chicken, so tender and perfectly seasoned! And the black bean sauce noodles (although it was missing the scrambled egg strips, don’t forget to order that extra and I would also add some more noodles as they don’t scrimp on the sauce). The shrimp was plentiful and tender! Dandan noodles divine. The fresh vegetables were combo of baby bok choy and broccoli and perfectly stir fried. The only negative was a flaw in their texting system so I thought that my order was ready 30 min earlier than what I put for pick up. Also instead of the Hong Kong pork chop we got a steak dish which was incredibly delicious and tender but will need to go back to order that.
Overall very pleased and it is my new go to Chinese restaurant. I am just sad I didn’t find it earlier. And more affordable with larger servings than other places. Please support this restaurant as I want it to stay in Berkeley for a long long time!

Overall great Chinese food in Berkeley for an okay price. Really like the Taiwan beef noodle soup and jiangxi noodle salad. Everything came out as expected. Good service, clean plating, plenty of seating. Scallion pancakes were really disappointing though; very little actual scallions in them.

Lovely place – very accessible and easy to find right on Shattuck. Place is nice and spacious and very clean.
Service is friendly and very quick.
We shared onion pancake which was nice and crispy, chicken homemade rice noodle soup and beef tips thick noodle soup. Everything was delicious but the beef dish stood out. Our 4 years old also enjoyed the soups and especially the crispy onion pancake.
Will definitely be back when around the area 🙂

Got the Taiwan beef noodle soup, it was amazing. I was also shocked at the time of service. I think I waited 2-3 minutes after ordering before they brought my soup. Service is very quick and the food is so flavorful

I came here during my lunch break one afternoon. The salt and pepper (appetizer) chicken wings are good as well as the vegetarian dumplings (the latter especially with dipping sauce). My beef and noodle dish had very thin strips of meat, and the flavoring of the nuts in the dish is absolutely tasty. The dishes didn’t take a long time to come out, and I loved pouring their black tea with the ceramic teapot. The restaurant has a nice design, with teapots hanging on the wall for a (occasional) fountain, and a tv to watch muted sports (women’s tennis when I was there). You can tell there are a lot of regular/loyal customers, so they’re seeming satisfied, and I love that their are lots of options on the menu for any persons’ preferences.
