Some of the best BBQ I’ve had in some time. Portions are large. Prices are just right. Staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend if you love good BBQ. Really hope I can make it back here.

I was quite surprised by this place. From the road looks quite nondescript. The dining area is quite simple and plain. However, this place has great barbecue. The brisket was fantastic. They also serve meals as family style. This is great if you’ve got people. The staff and cooks are very friendly and the portions are just right. The place is family friendly. And, the barbecue just tastes great. I would highly recommend this place.

This is one of the reasons I come to Bozeman. This BBQ is worth the 100 mile drive! I have been here many, many times over the past 5 summer seasons and always left completely full and satisfied. Love the Brisket and the Pulled Pork and I enjoy the variety of sauces. With the exception of the Pulled Pork, this is smoked BBQ meats so you add the sauce of your choice. The sides are all really great! I, too, really like the okra and the fried green tomatoes! Really enjoyed meeting Carl this year! Service with a smile and even a laugh! Who could ask for more?

This the place to go. The plates are on the cheap for quality, home cooking experience. Igot the sandwich sampler, all of them were crazy good, oh but the brisket is out of this world. They feature their own BBQ sauces of which the original was just perfect. Don’t forget their sweet & spicy pickles.

Every time my husband and I are in Bozeman we go here. I recommend the Burnt ends. Last time I was there I think they must have had a different cook, so it wasn’t the perfect meal I remember it being. It was still very good, and my husband really enjoys their pulled pork sandwich. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes BBQ.

I recently finished my second order of the 3-meat platter from Bar 3. Here’s what I thought about each item:
Beef Brisket – About 2/3 of the pieces that I got were gristle/fat. The meat was good, but I prefer the majority of what I order to be meat.
Smoked Turkey – Delicious. I am a turkey fan and I ended up ordering this on both orders.
Burnt Ends – This was my first experience with burnt ends, which I ordered after reading someone else’s review. They were okay, but not worth ordering again.
Chicken – Someone else wrote a review about this being dry, but I loved the chicken. This was my favorite of all the meats I ordered – the skin was -perfectly- crispy, and the meat was very flavorful. The chicken was the main reason I came back a second time. It wasn’t dry (at least not beyond what I would expect from BBQ’d meat).
Sides – These were my biggest disappointment. Only one of the 4 sides I tried was any good. The Hoppin’ Johns were great – nicely seasoned and delicious and I’d order them again. Moving onto the bad…. the mac and cheese was just sort of dry/sticky and not very flavorful – it felt like the macaroni was a little overcooked. The garlic mashers were just dry and thick and didn’t have much in the way of garlic flavor. The potato salad was blah – the potato slices seemed a little on the hard/undercooked side, so it was sort of like eating some semi-raw potato slices dipped in very thin sour-cream and sprinkled in dill. The slices needed to be cooked just a bit more and it needed some more seasoning.
That said, it’s possible I just picked the wrong sides. I’ll keep trying some of the other options…
The final verdict is that I would come back here to get the turkey and chicken for sure – both were extremely delicious and had plenty of meat. I knocked off one star for the sides and another star for the amount of gristle on the brisket, but if you prefer milder flavors for the sides, then that might be a good thing for you.

Good lord. This is amazing BBQ. I recommend the pulled pork, smoked turkey, and burnt ends. Their ribs are delicious as well. Great homemade sides, homemade BBQ sauce, and some of the best customer service. If you want BBQ in Bozeman or Belgrade; this is the place! 10/10

Garbage!
Famous Dave’s would get four stars compared to this place for example. That tells you how bad this place is.
The fries are the best thing that this place has going for it. Made the mistake and ordered the Mac and cheese to go. While waiting 20 minutes for their foul Mac and cheese, which did not have any ham or pork bits in them as advertised, a customer comes up to the counter with a screw that he found in the potato salad!
Not sure how they manage to stay in business. I am a local and have not heard a single good thing about them for several years.

This was probably the best complete meal I’ve had in a long time, and the best BBQ I’ve had outside of Salt Lick in Austin. The appetizer (fried green tomatoes), meal (twice-smoked ham), and side (jalapeno cheddar grits) were all excellent; even the pickles on the side were delicious and unique. Not to mention, the amount of food you get for your money is hard to find elsewhere. Oh, and it is also conveniently on the way to the airport from Bozeman. I will absolutely be visiting Bar 3 at least once on my next trip to Yellowstone or Big Sky!

Being from Saint Louis this place has a special place in my heart. 100% the best bbq in town. They also make some great sides. The mac&cheese could stand to be a little better, but I wouldn’t change hardly much else.
