Easy walk from Huntington Yacht Club; arrived at 7:45 on a Sunday morning. Sat right down as there were only 5 other people in there. Food came out in 5 minutes & was typical diner breakfast. No pressure to leave although the place had 14 people come in by this time- the wait staff had increased from 1 to 4 to insure nobody was going to have to wait. I’m a breakfast snob and I can say without question that Torkel’s Galley is first rate! The breakfast was one of the best that I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, the eggs, potatoes and bacon will be a memorable meal for a long time. The decor brought back fond memories of the old days of Halesite I only wish I lived closer to Halesite to frequent the Galley more often. I should note that I knew Torkel Knutson and his siblings back when I grew up on Huntington Harbor in the 50s and 60s. It was great to see him doing so well.

Definitely recommend this place if you like home style fried chicken or baked chicken pot pies man it was such good food at this location made me want to stay another day just to eat there again to try the rest of the menu out. Great customer service and very friendly female cook checking on me a few times to make sure everything was good for me.

Upbeat vibe. I usually get the classic eggs – bacon – home fries and it’s great ! Staff is efficient and friendly. Sometimes there’s a wait but not too bad.

It’s been 25 years since eating there, and it really hasn’t changed. Yes, it could use a little face lift but who cares- breakfast was very good, eggs bennedict for $12- bargain this day and age and they were absolutely perfect. My friend has the CB hash bennedict which he really loved. Friendly, attentive, and quite the breakfast value for 2025. I’m certainly going back.

Went there for breakfast we ordered omelettes both omelets were burnt and not cooked well at all the home fries were horrible they’re not even home fries just pieces of potatoes with skin on them that are also burnt I have to say I have been going here the food used to be good I don’t know what has happened maybe it’s under new ownership

One of my Favorite Breakfast places. The food is always amazing, the service and staff are always friendly and, there is just this great welcoming, somewhat nostalgic atmosphere that makes me excited to go back as soon as I leave. Highly recommend!

Owner asked staff to turn off lights in the restaurant during business hours. To reach the light switch staff had to ask a sitting customer to get up so they could reach the light switch. Food is decent and service is good. The place is dated but that’s not a negative. It could use a good deep cleaning to freshen it up. People are friendly and you can tell they have been coming to this place for years.

The food and service were acceptable, but nothing amazing. What is completely unacceptable is the restaurant’s business practices. They want a cash tip, which is fine, but even for a party of 2, they decide to put a 22% tip automatically. Fine, I usually tip 20% anyway, but I don’t feel good about it being decided for me. Then, they proceed to charge the tip on the credit card directly for some reason. Not only that, there is an undisclosed 4% credit card fee. When asked about it, the waitress told me it was disclosed on the menu, which she offered to let me see. After asking to see it, they could not produce it and said that I could talk to the owner.
The owner tells me that everyone charges this fee. That’s just simply not true, and in the cases that it is, it would be disclosed up front. The owner also told me that the charge on the card doesn’t include the tip, even though it was clearly marked on the receipt. Then told me if I didn’t like it, I don’t have to go back there. If you want to be petty over a $1.50 fee, I can play that game too. Rest assured, even if you paid me, I would not come back.
They eventually returned my tip, but for pulling that, they get nothing. All over an illegally charged fee that was their fault in the first place.
