This restaurant is a hidden gem and totally recommend for a delicious and fast lunch that has lots of value. I usually get the Asada a la Mexicana, one of their Thursday lunch specials and it comes with a tea. Johanna is an awesome hostess, polite, friendly and fast. Also they have an A/95 Score from Metro Health. Cecilia is another awesome hostess, very kind and polite. Can’t go wrong with this restaurant and their folks. Their chefs make consistent dishes, delicious and tasty. Shared a picture of their restaurant score, lunch special menu, and their Asada a la Mexicana.

We have been there a few times and every time we go, we enjoy the food. The last couple of times I’ve ordered the El Capitan plate which is chicken, beef and shrimp fajitas. Very good! And big portion. Prices are very reasonable, too. The staff is friendly and the service is average. Wait staff could be a bit more attentive.

First of all, I watched the cook prepare our meals WITHOUT a mask on the ENTIRE time. My husband ordered enchiladas and I ordered the Jalisco burrito. Neither of our meals had the traditional sauce that you typically see on burritos or enchiladas. The entree was straight, CHEESE. Pardon my language, but enough cheese to make anyone constipated (I included a photo). My cup of rice had a hair in it.. the hair was half white and half black (obviously not my own hair). I was just very turned off by this establishment. That’s the first time I’ve witnessed someone not wearing a mask while preparing food for the public, nor was he wearing a hair net. I want to make everyone aware of this violation. Our waitress was nice and she provided great service. But that’s about the only nice thing I can say about this place. Majority reviews are positive, but keep in mind the violations that occurred here.

The chorizo and egg with salsa verde was exactly what I wanted. It was very good. I also had an asada with cheese which had good flavor but some terrible cuts of meat. Big hard inedible chunks of fat that ruined that taco for me. The lemonade was very good. I’ll come back; but only for breakfast tacos.

Not the correct name now, it’s Taqueria El Chaparro De Jalisco now, but the food is great as well as the service. Looking forward to coming back and trying more menu items.

This is a great Mexican restaurant. Everything I’ve had tastes delicious, and they have some of the best salsas that I’ve had in San Antonio. Service is always great, and the employees are always helpful and respectful. The tacos aren’t consistent, though, and seem half empty too often.

Stopped in to have breakfast here with my Tio who is a regular. We had breakfast tacos, chilaquiles and menudo. All were absolutely delicious, especially the menudo! We were visiting SA from Chicago and during our one week stay, we came here twice for the menudo! The restaurant is clean and the service was outstanding; the waitress even gave us her condolences as she knew we were in town for my Tia’s services. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town.

I go there for breakfast early Saturday mornings. I order for take out. Tacos are $1.50 before 11 am. Their other prices seem reasonable. The portions in their tacos are much better than Taco Cabana! The service is ok. The place is clean inside. Mask wearing does not seem to be enforced for inside dinning. In general, be sure to check your order before you leave. They take credit cards. They will bill your card twice. After 3 business days, the duplicate drops off. (not sure why that is). I just pay cash now
