Came here with 4 adults and a child. We had just visited Descanso gardens on a cold afternoon. Soup sounded like a good plan and we were craving Korean. This place was less than 10 minutes away. We were seated right away and were offered cold barley tea (I believe) and hot tea. We ordered 2 soups, kalbi ribs, and pork cutlet. Banchan dishes were cabbage kimchi, radish, and fish cakes. My daughter devoured the fish cakes and we had to get more. The kimchi was so delicious. It was crunchy, a little spicy and sweet, and tasted so fresh. The server told us it was made fresh every day. When our first soup arrived (sullongtang) we got a little scared- the portion was huge! We didn’t think we would be able to finish everything we ordered. The soup was so comforting and I liked that you get to chose how much salt you want to add to it. The slices of meat paired really good with the thin, rice noodles. The pork cutlet was a big portion as well. We ate it as an appetizer. The kalbi ribs were tender and tasty. You can never go wrong with this dish. The second soup we ordered (galbi tang) had clear noodles, ribs, and small egg ribbons. This was my favorite. Even though I was full, I finished the last big rib by myself. I just didn’t have the heart to leave it and I felt silly taking one rib to go. Our meal was really memorable. The server kept checking on us and had such great table manners. She greeted us with a smile when we arrived, during service, and as we left. Such warm and inviting atmosphere. You have to try this Korean joint if you’re in the area.

Myeong-ga (명가) truly lives up to its name [which means “famous/prestigious house”].
Have you ever had a soup that is both steaming hot and incredibly refreshing? The Galbi-tang (beef short rib soup) here delivers exactly that—a taste only those who’ve experienced it can truly appreciate.
We also ordered the Bossam (boiled pork slices). The accompanying whole-leaf kimchi was served not in small pieces, but in generous, beautiful quarters. This felt like a genuine gesture of respect for the guests. That feeling of being well-cared-for is something you have to experience for yourself.
I also ordered the Seonji Haejang-guk (hangover soup with congealed ox-blood). While it might fall slightly short of a dedicated specialty Seonji place, the fact that I left not a single drop in the bowl says it all!
The signs on the wall were quite memorable. One read, “Please do not take the leftover kimchi,” which I’m hoping doesn’t imply recycling!
I highly recommend this place. A round of applause to the staff, who are incredibly kind, bright, and welcoming to all guests.

A great gem in the area. The prices here are great, the indoor ambiance is nice & relaxing, the staff have nice attitude, and the flavor is amazing! I highly recommend trying this place either dine in or take out. Also, their tables are clean and have a neat feature of a compartment that has all of your needed utensils. The two side dishes are delicious and I will definitely come back. I highly recommend trying their soups with bulgogi.

They didn’t have patio service on the day we went. We each got soups. The broth is very good, you can taste that is a long slow cooking process. The yukgaejang is very hearty. I got it made at a milder spice level. The service is prompt and friendly. You cannot take any of the leftover banh chan home.

I think this is a really legit Korean diner! Staff seems great and place is clean and simple like you would find in Korea. For the first time, I tried cold bean noodle soup. It has such a thick and creamy soymilk broth, a very filling treat on a hot day. The super flavorful banchan complement really nicely. Exceptional quality.

Far away from k-town but Myung Ga was delicious! You know it’s legit when you see mostly older Koreans eating there for dinner. The sulangtang was perfectly rich and plenty of noodles and beef. The kimchee is made in-house and was so tasty. The pork cutlet was massive and seasoned with so much flavour. Definitely a great meal and looking for opportunity or reason to drive back for another meal.

Wow this place is good. You get lots of meat, the broth is excellent, and the Kimchi, sauces, and onions are all so fresh and clean. Please do yourself a favor and get the galbitang, which is short ribs stew. It is their specialty, and absolutely delicious. Mine came with 4 bones packed with meat. Once I trimmed it off and dumped my bowl of rice into the noodle filled broth, it was packed to the brim with home cooked goodness. We also shared a blood sausage. If you’ve never had Korean blood sausage, it’s not full of squishy mineral flavored paté like it’s Latin counterpart. This is more of a pork casing filled with noodles, that is firm and clean tasting, with a hint of meat flavor. It comes with a seasoned salt that provides the perfect accent to the taste. Overall a definite repeat.

Authentic and delicious korean food in the La Canada – Glendale corridor area. Serivce is always friendly and if there is a wait, you are seated as quickly as possible. Thank you for the delicious food and service (without having to go to Koreatown always) 🙂

My go-to Korean soup in this area! I typically travel to k-town for a good bowl but now I no longer have to. We have come here maybe once every week and we leave happy, comforted, and food comatose. Our go-to are the galbi tangs (both with or without veggies are different and uniquely good). They have choices for the adventurous eater like pig blood sausages, pig heart, pig instestine, or cow joints, etc. too!
While their bossam is a little expensive for two but so satisfying to bring home to continue our food festivities at home.
Update!!!! They have katsu now!!!!
