Love this company! The food is delicious, healthy, and most importantly for me, has amazing dairy free meals. My baby has a milk protein allergy so I have eliminated all diary from my diet, these meals have helped me a ton as I have returned back to work. It is quick and easy for on the go.

Really great options for healthy eating. Overall I liked most of the meals I tried. Breakfast portions were lacking but lunches and dinners were perfect.

Online platform is not ideal. You have to create multiple subscriptions if you want to have variation in your weekly options. It’s the least flexible and least user friendly meal service I’ve had in that regard.

Love the sustainable/reusable packing. But like some other similar services, ice packs are placed below or above the meals, not in between. That’s a good safety issue for me.

Would use again if their ordering system changed.

This is the meal delivery service I have been looking for! The selections are diverse and the dishes are flavorful and vibrant (not dumbed down to the blandest of tastes). The diversity of fresh whole food ingredients in each dish is remarkable. The dinner portion sizes are very generous.

The ordering platform has recently been updated and I am hopeful that this pushes the service to 5 stars. My first week ordering was a bit wonky, but the new platform looks promising.

Generally, I had a positive experience when I used Vegetable and Butcher for a few months in 2025. I ended up switching to Thistle after a few months to try something new, but would consider going back to V&B in the future.

Pros:
Above all else, the customer service is fantastic. The chat is always manned by a real person, and they were super responsive and helpful. This is some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in recent years.

If you submit a meal review, you’re entered to win a raffle, which I did. I appreciate the incentive to provide written feedback.

The greens/lettuce are always very fresh. I definitely recommend eating those first so they don’t wilt.

The packaging is more sustainable than other food delivery services I’ve used.

Pros/Cons:
Delivery was both a pro and a con. I like the option to receive Sunday afternoon/evening delivery, because often I’d be able to plan my Sunday dinner around this delivery. The downside of V&B’s delivery was the weekday morning delivery, which was either between 3 am-8 am ish, or 8 am-12 pm. As someone who doesn’t wake up until after 8 am, but needs to leave for work by 9 am, the delivery was inconvenient because it had often been sitting outside my apartment for hours in the cooler if I chose the 3 am delivery. After the first few deliveries, I asked them to start putting more ice into the cooler, because I didn’t feel that it stayed cool long enough. I also wish there was more of a heads up for delivery. They text you about 5 minutes before your delivery arrives, so it’s hard to plan if you’re home or not. I recently switched to Thistle, and they send you a delivery text an hour before delivery, as well as one closer to arrival, and they let you follow along the GPS with delivery so you can plan accordingly. Also, with V&B, it was really hit or miss if the delivery driver would leave the cooler in my apartment lobby, or in front of my actual unit. Thistle is much more consistent leaving it in front of my unit vs. the general lobby area.

Cons:
As a vegetarian, I wish they had more bean-based options than tofu options. The flavors are also very Asian-inspired. Not a bad thing, but just not my preferred flavor palette. I also wish there had been more variety in the meals. After using the service for two months, I felt that the meals had gotten repetitive.

Some weeks, the menu was very heavily salad-based. It would have been nice to have more of a variety of salads and rice-based buddha bowls or other options, because I don’t want to eat salad for both lunch and dinner in the same day.

Once or twice, I received juices that had an expiration date within a day or two after delivery, while others had an expiration date a week or two ahead. I’d recommend checking the juice expiration date to make sure you don’t miss it.

The breakfasts were very high in calories and sugar, but not high enough in protein to stay full. They were absolutely delicious, but felt more like dessert than breakfast.

The spiciness indicators were not always accurate – some things that weren’t marked as spicy ended up being spicy, or vice versa.

Let me be so clear. I hate meal delivery. I’ve tried so many and they are usually nasty or inconvenient. But I love V+B. First the fact that they have such variety and always such flavorful food, but also they are healthy have no gluten or dairy and are high in protein. I’m actually obsessed. The only thing I would say could be improved is the bag system. I (like many people) live in an apartment building and obviously keeping in mind to be sustainable as possible I now have 6 delivery bags because I can’t give them back as easy as someone with a house. a recyclable box version would be nice.

I’ve been a loyal V&B customer for three years, and I want to love this service. The meals are consistently delicious and creative (5/5), and every interaction I’ve had with their customer service team has been friendly and helpful (5/5). Their mission is fantastic.

However, the entire experience is being crippled by a fundamentally broken meal selection platform (0/5). Week after week, I face a lottery of whether my selections will be registered correctly. I’ve received countless wrong orders, missing items, and have spent far too much time in email chains with support trying to fix orders that the system failed to capture.

It’s incredibly frustrating because the hard parts—the food and the people—are excellent. But the technology is so unreliable that it makes the entire service a gamble. A quick look at other reviews shows I’m not alone. V&B, please, I’m begging you: prioritize fixing your website and app. Your kitchen and customer service teams deserve technology that actually works.

I love the idea behind this meal delivery service, but the online platform and ability to customize or select meal options is limited. I was confused by the dates for delivery service- thought I I saw that it was a two week wait for my first delivery and then it showed up just a week later and I wasn’t exactly prepared (had too much food in the fridge already). The week after that I did expect it to be delivered, but I decided to cancel my service because there wasn’t enough variation in the meals being offered. And this time it didn’t show, which surprised me (I thought I had intentionally missed the cutoff window).

Pros- the company mission, sustainability, healthy and tasty meals.

Cons- the website is confusing, delivery dates weren’t clear (maybe that’s just me). I was on the 4 meal plan and it only gives you 4 meal options. You can change the day of the week only, which changes the meals you get. But I have no need of prepared meals coming to me on a Friday, it defeats the purpose of the plan. Wish there had been at least 5 meals offered and then I could eliminate one I didn’t care for.

The website shows menu a couple weeks ahead. The dishes are very creative. I thought I hated okra but I guess it’s how it’s prepared. Most of the dishes are wonderful and Customer Service is amazing . I’ve been using their services for over a month now and because of their thoughtful ingredients and portion control I have begun losing a little weight. Plus, I’m not wasting food!

I’ve been a loyal V+B subscriber for about 18 months, and initially it was great. Healthy, local, good value, and reliable. I upgraded my initial 4-box plan to 6 per week. Lately though, things have taken a turn and I fear the service is no longer worth the premium price.

I’ve noticed portion sizes slowly declining over the past few months, which I chalked up to inflation.

But this week, V+B delivered my Monday meals to the wrong location *twice,* which I only learned after following up with customer service each time. The representative blamed an unspecified “system issue” and claimed the error would be addressed.

As of this morning (Wednesday) only one of my two meals was delivered. V+B claimed this was a customization I made, citing the same system that routed my order to the wrong location twice in a row. Customer service responded with repeated “Thanks for your understanding” messages and stated the missed deliveries would be refunded.

I don’t understand how V+B can be planning an expansion and seeking investors while unable to deliver for long-time customers.
