The service was really good. They got busy when the game started, but they still checked on us regularly. My grandson had the Vatos burger, it was wonderfulHe ate every last bite and it was huge. The fries were delicious too crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I had the Chikibirria which is a crispy flower tortilla with birria, cheese, whole beans and guacamole and it comes with consome. It was a little greasy for me next time I’ll try it on a corn tortilla I think. It did have a really good flavor though. The bloody mary was good, but a little spicy for me. So I got the blended, strawberry margarita, and that was really good. We decided to stay and watch the game for awhile. So we ordered some mozzarella sticks off the happy hours menu. We will definitely be going back. They have a very large menu with lots of fun choices.

$1 off tacos for taco Tuesday. I tried the asada, chicken, and pastor. The asada and chicken were excellent. The pastor was highly recommended but very underwhelming. The asada and chicken had some heavy lime or lemon flavor, which was fine, but something to be aware of. They use a good quality meat for the asada also. Overall good experience.

I ordered a Mexican candy mango shooter as my drink with an unsweet tea on the side. I came at happy hour so some items were cheaper. The Mexican candy shooter had the overpowering mango flavor. I couldn’t taste any tequila. For an appetizer, I ordered the fried potato tacos, which was served with lettuce and pickled onions on top. With cojita cheese and what appears to be sour cream drizzle. The potato filling itself did lack a little seasoning. The taco shell was crispy around the edges.
The green salsa that they served with the chips was a delight. There was so much cilantro in it. It is my favorite at this place.
I ordered one birria taco and one beef cheek tacos. You can tell that it is a beef cheek because of the fattiness with the meat.
The beef cheek taco is full of flavor. If you are into this kind of meat, you will love it here. The birria taco meat is excessively dry, but it is flavored very well. It is a good and a bad taco. The good being the flavor in the meat itself and the bad being that it was too dry.
I did order the posole, but I have yet to try it. I don’t have room to eat it, so I’ll just take it home. All the other tacos were to go. Service was exceptional! When I come back, I’ll try the enchiladas. Loud bar, good for game day. The place is very clean.

This is one of the best Mexican food places in town. Has a cool Mexican vibe, great ambience, music, and a really nice bar and restaurant area. We have tried the giant burritos, quesadillas., Mulita, sopes, tacos, and fresh made Chicharrones. The food quality is super authentic, right down to the seasoning. It felt like eating at my mom‘s kitchen. Even the guacamole and salsa appetizers have lime in them with fresh made chips. Bring your willpower, because you will eat all the chips.

This is one of my go-to spots for authentic Mexican food. I always get the vampiro and chika birria – delicious, highly recommend.
Can’t comment on their other dishes as I have not tried them; will try their posole and albondigas next.

Good service. Fun atmosphere and lots of tvs to watch your favorite games. Food is ok. Not authentic Mexican but ok. Fajitas are fresh, could be more flavorful with seasoning. Standard bar drinks

Now and then… when Vatos Taco’s opened their location on Ming I was excited because their food at the Eastside spot was excellent. Ming opened and the food was just as good if not better! Unfortunately over the past year the food at the Ming location has fallen off not to mention the rising prices. 3 street tacos about a half cup of rice and about 4oz of been will set you back $14.00 without tax. Silver dollar size tacos… you need at least 2 or 3 more at a cost of $3.50-$3.75 each to make it a meal. Add a drink and your looking at $26-30 dollars for 1 person. And that’s one of the least expensive plates on the food menu. Happy hour drink prices are good. A Mondo draft beer will run you about $6. Dinner for 3 cost us $110 dollers + $20 tip included: guac & chips, 5 street tacos w/rice & beans, a carne assada wet burrito, shrimp a la diabla plate, 2 Mandos, 2 margaritas and an ice tea. Food was mediocre at best. Flavor of the carne assada burrito was off and it was more tortilla than anything. I will say the service was 10 out of 10! I recommend coming here for drinks after you have lunch or dinner somewhere else. Maybe I’ll visit their Eastside location if I go back for food. Hopefully they haven’t lost their touch there. To be determined….

Exploring Bakersfield’s culinary scene at Vatos Tacos, their newest location! Indulged in their mouthwatering Molcajete and savory carne asada fries paired with refreshing margaritas. Never fails to impress! There’s always something new to try and goood… Definitely one of our top favorite restaurants..

1 star because for those of us that live behind vatos tacos, they start pressure washing at 5:30am and the machine is so loud. It’s definitely not in ordinance with the city noise codes.
Sad because the food is very good but the neighborhood quietness is more important. It sounds like a jackhammer going off right behind my apartment.
