Jawdi Restaurant began with a grandfather in Bethlehem, a pioneer of shawarma since 1956 who created a signature spice blend shaping the family’s identity. A warm restaurant atmosphere raised his grandchildren, who learned the craft and helped expand the business to Jerusalem, Ramallah, Nablus, and Hebron. Years later, Ahmad, one of the grandchildren, moved to the United States and missed the flavors he grew up with. With his family’s support, he opened the first American branch in Indiana, bringing their heritage and authentic Middle Eastern taste to a new community. The restaurant now honors its roots while sharing a cherished culinary tradition with everyone who walks through its doors, keeping its story alive for future generations.

It was actually my first time ever trying shawarma, and I couldn’t have picked a better place. From the moment I walked in, you could tell they care about quality and flavor. The hummus was incredibly smooth and creamy with the perfect balance of garlic and tahini; fresh, rich, and clearly made in-house.
The chicken shawarma completely won me over. It was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. Wrapped with fresh toppings and sauce, every bite was flavorful, balanced, and satisfying; now I understand the hype.
And the baklava was the perfect ending: flaky layers, sweet but not overpowering, with just the right honeyed crunch.
For a first shawarma experience, this place set the bar high; I’ll definitely be back.

If you have tried Fayrouz on Main st Jawdi grill is owned by the same owner. Opened about 1+ months ago Jawdi grill has been getting rave reviews for all the good reasons. First off, location is great right beside Walmart, gas station and a shopping area making it easily accessible for lunch or dinner. Second Mediterranean style restaurant is always great and unique. We went as a group of 8 with 4 kids on a Friday night and although the place was so busy we got our food in less than 10 minutes and our portions were pretty huge. The meats are excellent and the combination never disappoints! Highly recommend trying it!
