From the outside, I thought the store was closed. The surrounding parking spots were all full. I was told to order the wings, and they did not disappoint. The wings were fried to perfection. I think they put salt and pepper on them. I do not know what other solicited are added. Located across the street from the back side of Southern University’s campus.

If traveling through or to the Baton Rouge Scotlandville area, The Blue Store on Mills is a must, trust me. The food is always hot & fresh as well as the consistency in flavor to satisfy your tastebuds for southern fried chicken wings, seasoned to perfection potato wedges, plus more. Customer service can be better by smiling more & being more engaged with the customers yet overall this place gets 4 & 3/4 ⭐’s, a hidden gem !!!

I usually come to this location for their lunch plate for me and my son but today i needed an order of 25 wings. I called at like 5:54pm to see about placing an order for 25 wings. I was told no because they only do 50 or more, chicken just came up and keep in mind they close at 7pm. That was all fine so i proceeded to head there and when i arrive at 6:30pm I’m told there is no more chicken and won’t be anymore. That was horrible service because i called to place an order and was denied because they only do 50 or more and was never told that’ll be the last batch of chicken or anything only that they close at 7pm!!! I would’ve paid for the chicken over the phone to hold it because i was on my way there. And the young girl wasn’t apologetic behind it or anything. So that was a waste of my time driving there when i could’ve went elsewhere from jump if she knew and would’ve relayed all that information to me.

Chicken was good but I don’t like how the lady with the glasses took my order.. After I ordered a 3 pc, she said if I wanted “1” which generally means “1 order”. When I proceeded to leave, I noticed she put one piece of chicken in my bag. Looked at the receipt, and it read “1 order of 3pc”. I told her there was only 1 pc and she had the nerve to say I asked if you wanted “1”. Yet on the receipt you rung up 1 order of 3pc. Yea, ok.
My advice. Make sure you check your order before leaving if the dark skin lady with glasses takes your other.

The chicken is always fresh but the ladies at the front counter somewhat have a nasty attitude as if they don’t want to be at work. Please don’t ask a question or request an extra tray, there will definitely be an attitude! Please hire staff at the front counter without the attitudes or ones that are not having a conversation on their speakerphone while trying to take your order.

It was okay. It was good but sure not worth the hype. It just tastes like home cooked fried chicken. I drove all the way from Hammond for this Facebook reels boosted up basic chicken. However, if you want some fiya chicken, take that ride to Kenner and go to GA wings off Williams Blvd.
