Reviews
The food is excellent, both times I’ve been here, I’ve had a fantastic meal. The selection of cured meats and cheeses is well thought out, the grilled meats are high quality and cooked to perfection, and the burgers are truly outstanding (especially on Wednesdays, when they typically have a burger night). They also have quite a good selection of mainly national wines.
If you’re in the area and looking for a high-quality meal in a comfortable setting, I highly recommend giving Corks a try. I’ll definitely be back!
However, when I do go out, I want the food to be cooked well or correctly and I simply want good service.
I have gone to corks many times and it has always lived up to the highest standards.
Rob and his team always execute delicious meal.
Top quality food products
Excellent culinary skills
Great wines to go with the food.
Always an excellent service.
Service: Our servers for the night were Alex and Jayda. They were amazing. Super professional, patient, and friendly. What was also important for our group was that they were mindful of the reason we were there and did not try to be distracting during the presentation.
Meal:
We began our course with a shared charcuterie board and every table had some items that were different. Unfortunately, not super impressed with the arrangement and I felt it was average. It was a nice looking board and I enjoyed the cheese selection and candied pecans. This was followed by a small salad.
I also had a pomegranate cocktail and it was good.
For the main entree I got the Salmon Wellington. I need y’all to know something. I have been looking for food that will excite me since moving here from Atlanta. I saw this on the menu and knew immediately I wanted to order this because of the intricacies involved in making this dish. A play off of the traditional beef Wellington made famous by Gordon Ramsey, you know I got a little excited. Served with a side of broccoli and creamy mashed potatoes, this dish delivered as promised! The crust was flaky and cooked through, the mushroom duxelles was delicious, and the salmon was not fishy. The lemon dill sauce that accompanied the Wellington was flavorful and not too overpowering. Everything on the plate was fresh and had flavor without one thing overpowering the other.
Some of my other colleagues ordered the whole lobster or steak. They all enjoyed their meal and although a couple of the steaks were overcooked from the temperature they requested, everyone left happy and satisfied.
Dessert: To end our night we had a Pistachio cream Napoli like dessert. I can’t remember the exact name.
Two triangle puff pastry with a light, airy pistachio cream generously filled between. This was a great finish to our meal and well liked by the group as well.
Overall, I think Corks Wine and Charcuterie really surprised me in a positive way and has me excited to come back to visit in the near future. This place will probably be added to one of my top restaurants in Albany.
