We made a trip to Dover to give the cafe a try based on the reviews and frankly came away disappointed. The place had a cozy feel even if it was a little noisy from the kitchen. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food, however, was pretty bland, not much flavor or spice at all whether it was the calamari, veal piccata, or handmade meatball lasagna.

I had the bacon wrapped filet. It was not really tender and didn’t have much flavor. The salad was very good and a nice size. The broccoli florets were really good! The French onion soup was a crock full of croutons with very little soup topped with cheese. Basically mushy bread topped with cheese. It’s a small café that’s crowded. The service was good.

Great food. Large portions served hot. Friendly staff. Just a little loud and a little cozy for seating.

For years, we’ve been told how this is the best Italian food in York, so we decided to give it a try.
The first thing to notice is that the seating area is very small with a lot of tables. The lighting and overall atmosphere is not what you expect from a high-end Italian restaurant. No romantic date nights here, but we got the small table in the corner by the kitchen, and that’s the closest you will get.
It’s BYOB, so we brought a nice bottle of wine, and once they saw it, they brought us glasses and a corkscrew. The fact that it’s BYO does save a lot compared to buying by the glass.
We started with the spicy fried green beans, which were very good. The marinara sauce was a very simple standard american-italian marinara sauce. Which I believe would be good over a classic chicken parm or spaghetti and meatballs.
For entrees, we got the Scallops Diablo and the Spicy Sausage with Broccoli. The portions are massive, which is great when the food is good. For the Scallops Diablo, despite the scallops most likely being frozen, they were cooked well, and I was able to cut them with a fork. The sauce was very good. Whatever spices they added to it made it much better and more flavorful than the one with the beans. I changed the pasta to penne, which picked up the sauce nicely. I added a side of meatballs, which were very good and would be fantastic in a meatball sub.
The sausage and broccoli however was not very good. The sauce was too thin and watery. It was overkill with the amount of red peppers that overpowered the dish. Do not recommend the wine sauce here.
While being the best Italian restaurant in the York area is not a high bar, I think this one makes it there. If you want a romantic, authentic Italian meal, you still need to go to Lancaster, Harrisburg, or Little Italy in Baltimore. If you want a good local homestyle, American-Italian, I believe this fits the bill.

It’s a small establishment, but it’s good for a quiet meal whether you’re with friends or family. They have a drive-thru window, so you can order ahead and pick it up, which is awesome. Desserts and coffee were amazing as well. Blueberry cheesecake crust had such a delicious and smooth texture. The blueberry wasn’t overpowering, which I like. The tiramisu was to die for! It was one of the best I’ve had. The spicy sausage and broccoli for me did not have a lot of heat, but that’s fine cause it was still a good dish with all the fire roasted vegetables.

We had a late lunch that was delicious. The calamari was lightly breaded and crispy. The cream of crab soup was full of crab meat. Our entrees were chicken marsala and veal. Both were prepared to perfection. Chicken was juicy and very flavourful. Veal was tender also. The atmosphere is lacking and was very bright. The food was so delicious, we will be back soon.

I hardly write reviews, but I just had to for this establishment. This is a very tiny Italian restaurant that I had never heard of before that I found on Google looking for Italian food nearby! It was close and the reviews were good so we decided to go! The reviews do not lie, this place is top tier!!! It instantly became my new favorite date place and I recommended it to all of my friends. The staff was really friendly, the food came out fast and hot, and it was absolutely delicious! Not to mention that it is ridiculously affordable for the quality of the food! I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more.

Food is delicious! Got the shrimp champagne, shrimp scampi, and veal parmigiana. All were piping hot, fresh, and tasty! Salted caramel vanilla crunch cake was the perfect way to end the meal.
