We go to downtown Garland all the time and never have seen this place. It’s been there for several years. Wasn’t sure about the place based on the name but Ratatouille was cute so why not try.

My wife and were very glad we did. The Tom Kha soup is fantastic and the dishes very good. My wife rarely finishes her Thai dishes but here she did. Definitely going back.

Time, location, and even temperature of the food- solid. Food itself? NO flavor. The curry tasted like colored broth; the egg rolls and cream cheese crab rangoons tasted like they were reheated from a Sysco bag. It was truly the most tasteless food I’ve ever had which is saying something as we have friends in the Midwest.

When I called to discuss getting a partial refund of some kind, we were told to bring back the food and that they would leave a note for the manager. Kind soul… sweet honey child…we are not getting back into the cold to drop off containers of what became cold and soggy food only to wait for someone to get back to us.

We were pumped about not having to cook- I spent extra money and ordered a large size of the massaman curry as that’s what we were looking forward to most. We (4 adults) eat tons of Thai and were really looking forward to our meal. It was so bad that we didn’t finish it; taking it back to the restaurant was out of the question as we were all hangry and exhausted after a holiday of wrangling kids and schedules.

Attached is a picture of the sad leftovers which we threw away… never have I done such a thing. It was hot and edible, but severely disappointing.

Small space serviced by an attentive and speedy host/waiter. We especially loved the extra crunch and flavor the fried garlic had for the shrimp spring rolls, and that peanut sauce they serve is delicious for them as well as the salad dressing.

I unfortunately ordered the Garlic Salmon instead of the cooler-looking Garlic Tilapia they had as a picture for the menu. The flavor was great! It came with a lot of Garlic, as well as a little dark bed of something finely chopped under it that was a little too salty for my husband on his salmon. But it was greatly paired as a topping for steamed rice, so he ate it with that.

The red curry special came with an eggroll and a side salad. I ordered some fried banana with honey which while tasty, also expelled some hot water when bitten into. Delicious meal! Recommend the tilapia

Food is amazing every time. Small wait but food is always piping hot and fresh out of the kitchen. Amazing flavor. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor and go. The basil fried rice with a little bit of spice is incredibly delicious!

The Blue Rat, nestled on the historic downtown square, is a hidden gem. I ordered the lunch chicken pad Thai, and it was excellent—perfect spice level without being overpowering. The restaurant’s atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and efficient. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back for more!

We ordered pad see ew and pad Thai on DoorDash. SO FREAKING GOOD. And this is compared to Thai Thumbz and Tom Yum Thai. Both dishes taste so authentic. This is my new go to Thai spot. Feels like a hole in the wall kind of place because nobody talks about it.
Overall: LOVEEEEEE ♥️

Had the crab fried rice. It was sooooo good. They were generous with the crab meat. The portion was small but I enjoyed it never the less and would get it again!

The service is excellent and friendly. Take out only because they have limited space. I foresee them finding a bigger place in the near future.

hey have a great selection of appetizers and entrees. I had the Lifelong Noodles with seafood (spice level 2… maybe level 1 next time for me) and the chicken satay (the peanut sauce is what makes this great). The noodle dish had shrimp, squid, scallops (I loooooove scallops), and two mussels. You can get chicken, beef, pork, or vegetables.

My brother had the sticky rice with mango for dessert. He let me try a bite (and I gave him a satay). I’ll have to get that next time.

The Blue Rat Thai is located on Main Street near the Square in Downtown Garland, two doors down from Dos Banderas. Go today, people!
