We are an extension of Osakana in Brooklyn, with sister restaurants OKONOMI/YUJI Ramen. We offer various species of local fish prepared for both raw and cooked consumption. Come by to see what we have on menu, or just to chat with us about how to best prepare any and all fish we carry.
We also offer a multitude of classes where you may learn to butcher fish or simply prepare a whole meal revolved around a specific fish/technique. Stop by any weekday for a lovely Donburi, or a beautiful plate of Sashimi for take-out.

Osakana is one of those places I constantly crave in New York. No matter how long I’ve lived here, whenever I’m in the mood for sashimi, it’s always the first spot that comes to mind. We usually get takeout and DIY everything at home, and it’s become a little tradition for us.
Their ingredients are incredibly fresh — the scallops and squid are my absolute favorites, and the rest of their sashimi is always delicious. The only problem is we always end up buying way too much and can’t finish it
I highly recommend this place! You can easily recreate an omakase vibe at home, and it’s even better with a bottle of red or white wine on the side.

Ordered the nigiri standard- waited for about 10minutes. I’ve been on a mission to find the best sushi spot in the city. Probably one of the best sushi spots I’ve had so far that is privately owned and not a chain. The fish melts in your mouth and the sushi rice is seasoned. Pieces are nice and fat. You’re paying for high quality fish and the prices do reflect its standards. Osakana, you’ll be seeing me soon 😉

I don’t normally write bad reviews but this place essentially stole our money. Long story short: during COVID times, my wife and I bought $360 worth of gift cards from their website since eating in was the thing back then – the gift cards were mailed to us. Life got busy and we forgot about the gift cards. Fast forward to last week, I tried using them in store but the cashier said they had $0 balance and were cashed out a few years ago in October 2023. Hard to believe and unable to give them the benefit of the doubt seeing how we don’t live with anyone else and we’ve never set foot in the store until last week. Do not buy any gift cards from them.

id say for the quality of sushi and in comparison to other sushi around the same price point, the price is fair. they use yuzu kosho, which I have not seen many places use, and which really elevates the flavor. the pieces are also sizable!

Did the sushi I class and had such a great time! They walk you through the origins of each roll you make and it’s such a fun class. The fish was fresh and they give a good amount of food! Left feeling full:) it’s also BYOB so if you want to drink any wine/sake you are welcome to

I think the truth is, it’s just okay! I got the Chirashi first class and I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of fish, but disappointed by the quality. I’d say 1/3 of the pieces would not have passed quality control at a sit in sushi restaurant of any caliber because of how chewy they were.
If I lived nearby and really wanted sushi, maybe it’d be a quick treat from time to time, but otherwise, I’d skip it.

If you like sashimi, this is the best value place you can get for the high quality fish. It sells by pound (minimum order 1/4 pound). We went for the tuna. The bluefin lean was flavorful, medium one was a good balance between flavor and juicy, and the fatty one was juicy and melt in your mouth. We also got the sablefish and would recommend it as well. Everything was fabulous. I believe the kitchen closes 30min before the closing time. Take out only.

We had the most amazing time last night with Corey Chang. He took us through how to harvest uni then how to make 3 hand rolls. We walked away belly and spirits filled. The class was informative and so mich fun. Corey was genuine, personable and so knowledgeable. Highly recommend for date nights or getting together with friend. It was a truly unique experience not to be missed.

Amazing! We got the Nigiri – First Class for $50. You get 12 high quality pieces of sushi in the box. Would love if they had some seating or a tiny bar at the shop so you could eat there but we took it to Tompkins Park and it was a nice experience. Would love if they had more drink options as well as you take it to go (think sanzo would be good).
All in all great place with high quality sushi. Want to try a class soon.

I don’t know WHERE these stellar reviews are coming from because almost every fish that we ordered had massive amounts of veins and sinew them – I had to spit out every bite of toro and salmon and this was across all three orders that we made.
The food LOOKS good and salivating but nothing was really edible and I didn’t finish my bowl. The rice is hard and not seasoned the way I’d expect sushi rice to be and the fish was sinewy to the point of being inedible at times. We ordered two types of rice bowls and a sushi set. Sushi set was slightly less sinewy. The quality of the fish is fresh, but the cut is absolutely awful and flavor isn’t quite there. The best part of raw fish is the way it melts in your mouth with rich flavor and texture, you totally can’t enjoy it if you’re spitting out every bite from extreme chewiness.
