The first time I came to this restaurant was years ago and I absolutely loved it. I forgot the dishes I tried but I remember everything was good. So when I was craving Chinese food today, I decided to come here and the food was just as delicious as I remembered it. To eat, we ordered the krab rangoon, spring rolls, pan fried dumplings and chicken lo mein with white rice. And everything was delicious. The krab rangoon was crunchy and you could definitely taste the crab meat in it. The shrimp in the spring rolls was a nice surprise. The pan fried dumplings were tasty as well. As to the lo mein, it was cooked to perfection. The service was okay. We did have to ask for water refills and to go containers but they packed our leftovers, which was nice of them to do. The server also gave us suggestions as to the portion size of the entree when we were ordering, which we appreciated. As to the ambiance, it could be better. The table next to us was dirty and it took them a while to clean it and the chairs may need updating. Overall, the place is clean. I would definitely return to this restaurant again whenever I’m craving Chinese food again.

With “Canton” in their name, I was expecting authentic Hong Kong style cooking, but my experience was very disappointing. Both the Sauteed Scallops and the Shrimp Ball with Bean Curd tasted the same–really bland. In fact, the bean curd was overcooked and broken, while shrimp balls were sour (old, expired). Salt and Pepper Squid had very little seasoning, leathery tough, and mostly batter. They also don’t itemize receipts, which makes it hard for business expenses. Not returning here again.

A True Dim Sum Gem in Miami
Canton Palace is, without a doubt, one of Miami’s best-kept secrets for authentic and delicious dim sum. I always take visiting guests here, and it never disappoints. My mother recently flew in from Arizona, and her approval sealed the deal—this place is truly special.

We had an incredible meal, and she absolutely loved every dish we tried. The bell peppers stuffed with pork and shrimp were a standout, a perfect blend of fresh vegetables and savory filling. We also enjoyed the Fried Shrimp Taro, which was incredibly tasty and had a wonderful texture. The classic Pork and Shrimp Dumplings were also very good, perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

The meal continued with the delightful Bean Curd Rolls, and we finished on a sweet note with the Red Bean Sesame Balls. It was the perfect dessert to end a perfect meal. I’m so glad my mom enjoyed every single dish.

If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable dim sum experience in Miami, Canton Palace is the place to go. You won’t be disappointed!

CUSTOMER BEWARE: Food was not bad. It’s a hit or miss depending on the item. The salt and pepper seafood trio was meh…the squid was fried WAY too long and was tough and leathery. NO fish in it. Shrimp was sparse. My Mom called out the preparation on some of the other dishes but it wasn’t too bad. It is a little smaller and cozy which again is fine.

READ ON PLEASE.

WHAT my parents, family and I DID NOT appreciate — and this might be entirely accidental, but I highly doubt it — is that they:

1.) They charge an 8% sales tax (I am from out of town to see the folks but found out later it should be 7% MAX).

2.) They charged the tax FIRST and THEN they calculated the 18% mandatory larger dining group afterwards. They cannot do that as it results in them getting collecting more $$ to unsuspecting clientele. Hopefully it was a mistake. But mistakes are convenient like that…if they are not caught and brought to management’s attention.

Being charged 18% gratuity and the numbers charged to favor a higher bill…hmmm. Spunds a little predatory don’t you think? How many times has this happened? A couple of dollars here and there amount to potentially hundreds of dollars a day they can be potentially pocketing! I hope I am wrong but not in this case.

Ohhh….an additional issue:

3.) They charge 3% fee if you use a credit card? In this day and age?! Now this like rubbing salt to the wound after the billing debacle.

At this point, not coming back: not really worth the drive for the food…and definitely not for the predatory way they play with your bill. Be careful my friends.

Good honest cantonese cuisine. Nothing fancy but good home cooked style food. They have dim sum and specials on the lighted board. Been going there for many years. Fried tofu, steamed pork spear ribs with taro, Chinese broccoli and beef, eggplant filled with fish paste (sounds not so yummy but is good) are a few dishes. Also pre order special chicken which always sells out ( farm organic taste different from your standard chicken) not on the regular menu..!!!

Absolutely Disgusting – Stay Away!

I am outraged by the experience I had at this restaurant. First, we were served a plate of rice with a hair in it. Disgusted, we sent it back and decided to give them another chance—big mistake. The replacement dish also had a hair in it. Two separate plates. Two hairs. Completely unacceptable.

The waiter apologized multiple times, and we appreciated the attempt to make things right, but by then, our appetite was completely gone. We asked for the check and were shocked to receive only a 10% discount—for food we could not and did not eat.

This is not just poor service, it’s a total health and hygiene failure. Absolutely disgusting. We left hungry, upset, and still had to pay for this nightmare of a meal.

STAY AWAY. This place clearly has no quality control and no respect for their customers.

We ordered from Canton Palace and got the crab Rangoon, which tasted sweet and disgusting. We couldn’t even eat the seafood sauté because it was totally covered with ginger and inedible. It was probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had.

Mom and pop type of place, great prices and outstanding food. Been looking for a solid dim sum spot in west miami and after a lot of looking, definitely found my go to spot from now on. The traditional dish review on 明火烧鸭: The duck is cooked just right although the meat is a slightly tougher than expected, the sauce isn’t HK style and is salt based rather than sour based.
The traditional dish review on Dim Sum platter: no choice of dim sum selection, but provided set is comfortable to eat with hot tea.
The traditional dish review on 干炒牛和: no further comments. All is as expected.
