Gosuke inside the Henn Na Hotel was such a memorable find. There’s a T-Rex at the entrance, which sets the tone for a fun and unique experience. The restaurant is a small omakase-style setup with impeccable service. Even though you place your order through a tablet, a server comes by to confirm everything before it’s sent to the kitchen, and the dishes come out quickly and beautifully prepared.
I ordered the chef’s special, which was the perfect amount for a solo dinner on an empty stomach; fresh, balanced, and made with just the right touch of wasabi. I also ordered the oden soup from the happy hour menu, a light and comforting broth with a spicy mustard that added a perfect kick. The plum wine was refreshing, and I appreciated being served hot water alongside it.
The standout was the tempura soft-boiled egg. Highly recommend! Perfectly runny yolk, light crisp tempura, and a delicate soy sauce that tied it all together.
Service was warm, attentive, and quick, and the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, making it great for solo dining, dates, or a small group. I walked in with no reservation on a Thursday at 5:30pm. My total was $66.42 for everything, and it felt absolutely worth it.

I stopped by GOSUKE Japanese Restaurant in Midtown and was super impressed! The food tastes authentic — fresh sushi, flavorful sashimi, and the tempura was perfectly crispy without being greasy.
I ordered the Shrimp Tendon and Sushi & Sashimi Prime Plate, and both were delicious and beautifully presented. The lunch specials are very affordable for the quality you get — such a hidden gem inside Henn Na Hotel!
Service was friendly, the space is clean and cozy, and it really feels like a local Japanese spot straight from Tokyo. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

We spent $50 per person. Miso noodle and curry rice were too bad. I had two spoon of noodle and gave up, the curry was cold after a 20 min wait. Sushi was okay, 3/5. They didn’t serve water for us and we had to ask after ordering the food. I would not recommend to anyone, you can have much better food in this area for this price.

We enjoyed everything about our Christmas Eve dinner at Gosuke!!! The food was incredible – delicious, refined and beautifully presented. I strongly agree with other reviewers who commented that Gosuke accomplishes a special kind of flavor and quality that’s really hard to find in Japanese restaurants here in the US. Many times throughout the meal, I took a bite or a sip and was transported back to Japan – yes, it was that good! Kaki fry and chicken wings arrived hot and crispy, the chawanmushi was exquisitely warm and comforting. Hamachikama was a treasure – savory, mouthwatering and cooked to perfection. Sashimi omakase was delightful, a stunning feast for the eyes that delivered on flavor, expertly garnished and seasoned with ume sauce, yuzu kosho, fresh shiso leaves and other lovely surprises. The special Nagoya-style unagi blew us away – I’m already dreaming of the next time we visit so I can order it again!!! All paired with an incredibly delicious and well-described selection of drinks (including special Suntory beer, Aladdin nigori sake, and even sparkling sake), we were completely happy and satisfied. The servers and front of house staff were so kind and genuinely hospitable – thanks to their expert care, we felt able to fully relax and savor our evening. Thank you so much to your amazingly talented sushi chefs and kitchen staff for creating an unforgettable, truly magical Christmas Eve meal! Mina-san, hontou ni gochisousama deshita!!!

This place is where I come to taste authentic Japanese food, I feel like I’m back in Japan. There are subtle differences between Japanese food in the US and Japanese food in Japan and this restaurant nails exactly how food is prepared there, it’s hard to explain but very yummy and overall amazing experience. Chirashi sushi is amazing and tempura (very difficult to nail in my opinion) is perfectly crispy. Couldn’t recommend Gosuke enough!

What a great restaurant. Excellent sushi and excellent appetizers. One of the best Japanese restaurants that I have been to in many years. The sushi chefs were masters at their craft. The staff were warm and welcoming, and our server Chris took great care of us. I highly recommend.

I had a delicious and wonderful dining experience at Gusoke. From the moment I walked in, the service and food were pure perfection. The food is authentic japanese.
We had chefs menu for sushi and tempura.
Seriously the best tempura I’ve ever tasted. Everything melted in your mouth the sushi was so fresh and seasoned with perfection that wasabi and soy sauce was not needed. Every piece of sushi was a different tasting experience.
We had Sapporo beer with our dinner and it was served so cold and chilled the way japanese beer is suppose to be served with sushi ( most places always not very cold) it was perfection.
The service was impeccable explaining everything you were eating and how it was prepared. Truly a wonderful dining experience .
I highly recommend this wonderful little gem on 35 st in NYC ❤️

No frills sushi spot on the back of a hotel. Strong aroma of the sea on the grill. Seating area is small and intimate. Service is attentive but felt slightly unwelcoming. Felt weird refilling my own sake when less expensive restaurants do this for me. Perhaps as they are trying to be efficient vs friendly. I ordered to only find out 10 minutes later the dish I chose was unavailable. All this being said, the gyoza is a perfect blend of crisp and soft. The specials are expensive AF but tasty. Eating a $10 piece of tuna left me feeling some type of way. I guess I don’t have the taste buds to appreciate it. Tonkatsu was a bit dry. Rice was amazing. Sauce top notch. Overall, come here for expensive but great food.

Authentic, Japanese run, fresh, friendly, great service and reasonably priced. What more can you ask? This is an excellent Japanese restaurant. If you are in the area, you must come here at least once! (They also have a great lunch box too!)
Update 12-Jul-22
They have now added tempura items to the menu! Keeps on getting better.
