Excellent new location within the Tres Fuentes hotel on Stirling Dickinson Stirling Dickinson#2). It is a little difficult to find once inside the hotel’s courtyard (they need better signage), but fortunately some folks pinted us in the right direction.
The menu is extensive and includes many traditional Japanese and Korean items. It is broken down into general categories like appetizers, ramens, mains, salads, and street food.
Since we arrived on a rather cold and blustery evening, we immediately ordered jasmine tea to get rid of the chill. It was excellent. We ordered the fried gyozas. While they were very good, next time we will try the boiled gyozas.
Because we were really cold, we decided on ramen. My wife ordered the shoyu ramen and I ordered the tonkatsu ramen. They were both beautifully presented and equally delicious. Both had pork belly but each was served with a different broth. The portion size was quite large and neither of us could finish our bowls.
The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and checked on us during the meal.
This is an excellent restaurant. If I had one complaint, it was a very chilly evening and the courtyard location is outdoors with very little protection from the biting wind. While they did have propane heaters, they were never turned on. I recommend being sure to bundle up if it is cold outside.

It’s inside a hotel courtyard, under the arches. Very pleasant shady outdoors set of tables, lots of local art on the walls. The tonkatsu ramen was outstanding and the mint lemonade very tasty and refreshing. This ramen addict will definitely be back!

Kokumi, featuring Japanese and Korean fare, is serving some of the highest quality, nurturing and tasty dishes in San Miguel. Their ramen noodle bowls use exquisite broths. Additionally we adore their green beans and gyozas appetizers. It’s our current favorite restaurant in town. Everyone we introduce to Kokumi agrees it’s superb. The owners have had other establishments in San Miguel but have hit a really high note with Kokumi.
