Food was delicious! Service was great. Nothing like warm comforting food on a snowy day. They were apparently closed for a few months during road construction, but have since reopened. Will definitely go back!

Visually stunning, but palatably displeasing.
Honestly the excellent organization of the space, use of color in art and the overall cleanliness was five star! Even the dishes themselves were beautifully crafted to the eye.
The deception came in first taste of the appetizer sauce: sickly sweet…comparable to ketchup. The size for four small samosas also did not hold up to their $9 value. My partner and I were less impressed with the main entrees which were drowned in olive oil, simply taking away from true flavor of the food. More bland and oily than anything.
Speaking with the chef after, we did learn this is a typical trait of the cuisine, (use of olive oil) so it may be said that it was simply not to our personal liking. However I would recommend any individuals to consider whether to go, if flavor and price of importance.

We enjoyed the vegetable combo and Awazy tebs—both were absolutely delicious! The service was excellent as well. Thank you for the wonderful and tasty meal.

This place had a calm, relaxed atmosphere. They gave us delicious, complimentary vegetable soup right as we sat down, which was such a nice surprise after coming in from the cold. The marinated lamb shank was flavorful, tender, and delicious. Please eat here if you’re ever in or anywhere near South St. Paul.

We kind of stumbled across this place & thoroughly enjoyed everything here! The atmosphere is casual & welcoming and the decor has an appropriate mishmash of cultures, which gives it a unique feel with a little kitsch. We had Ethiopian type fare & loved it!

I have to give Hilltop International Cuisine 5 stars. They are new to SSP as they opened on January of 22. In all honesty, had I known it was an Ethiopian restaurant I would not have stopped in due to unfamiliarity. However, the server was very patient with me and made two great choices. I has the curry chicken which was very good. The rice it came with was amazing. The Samosas were the bomb! I ordered beef. Easy on tue spice tho, they’re worse than the Mexicans. Haha! Which I am. 🙂

Found Hilltop on accident and what a WONDERFUL accident it was! The atmosphere was lovely and welcoming, service was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable (I have food allergies) and their suggestions were fantastic! The food was AMAZING. I’m hungry just thinking about it! I cannot wait to go back. Oh, and my super picky kids will eat here too!! Major win.

Excellent food with robust and appetizing flavor profiles. The best value item is the “Hilltop Ethiopian Specials”, which is a set of their various Ethiopian dishes served with salad and injera.
The veggie and beef sambusas are great and filled until almost bursting. The lamb/goat shank is also a must-try. The slab of shank has a nice chunk of meat, marrow in the bone, and comes a large portion of long-grain rice and salad.
The portions in general are large and can feed 2 people if eaten with the injera they provide with most dishes.
The décor is tasteful and reminiscent of the regional flair of the cuisine. The service is polite and quick.
If you want to try something a little bit different, definitely visit Hilltop. And please go order the Ethiopian dishes, which are all bursting with flavor from the various spice combinations they use.
