Had a fantastic lunch here sat on the patio in the sunshine! Lovely atmosphere, friendly and attentive servers. Excellent cobb salad. The biscuits and gravy are the best I’ve ever tasted in California. The sausage gravy was EPIC. Really dog friendly, the server brought my pooch a slice of bacon for being a good girl. 10/10 would strongly recommend.

We’ve been excited to visit this relatively new place for months. Pioneer is only a 10 minute drive up the mountain (North on Hwy CA88 from Pune Grove). Impressed from the moment we pulled into a recently renovated campus consisting of a motel & the restaurant. Clean and fresh were my first thoughts as my grandson & I parked comfortably in the front. Upon entering, “Dining” was our destination as we proceeded forward, passing a sign for “Bar” to our right. It was a Friday late afternoon, and the festive yet contolled libation was underway as the end of the week celebrating was underway. Happiness surrounded us as we proceeded down the hallway to our dining destination. We were there for a late lunch, knowing we missed the busy time hours before. Greeted pleasantly and seated right away to dig into the menu that had many appetizing and familiar names. We kept it simple… we were there for “fries and milkshakes.” These were our go-to when rating grandson approval destinations. Unfortunately, our host informed us right away that “shakes” were part of their future plans but not available at this time. No problem, my grandson reviewed his kids’ menu, I the adults’, Fish ‘n Chips were chosen by both of us. Huge portions were served to us rapidly, and we indulged our time in glee; outstanding food. Our service was friendly, informed us well with answers to our questions, and shared in neighborly conversation that reminds us why we like this area so much.
The atmosphere was clean, beautiful, and inviting. There’s a newness to our surroundings with an obvious attention to detail. Great view of a meadow surrounded by a Pine tree Forrest. Again, it seemed fresh and peaceful, gazing out the windows anticipating the 4 seasons of change. We talked about returning and bringing the family with us; the breakfast menu looked intriguing! Prices were average, maybe on the high side, but isn’t everything these dates.

We chose this spot for our Memorial Day lunch, hoping to support a well-reviewed local restaurant instead of settling for a fast food chain like Taco Bell or KFC. With so many positive reviews on Google, it seemed like a solid bet for a comforting, quality meal. Sadly, it ended up being memorable—but not in the way we’d hoped.

We ordered takeout for the whole group. My friend and I, both pescatarians, went with the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. The dish sounded promising, but the reality was far from it. The Alfredo sauce was dry, tasted reheated, and clung to the pasta like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. The shrimp—just five small pieces—looked like they were grilled separately and tossed on top as a last-minute afterthought. Honestly, it felt more like $10 takeout from a questionable corner spot than a meal from a place with such glowing reviews.

To make matters worse, we had specifically asked for utensils and extra napkins over the phone, explaining that we’d be eating on the go. When we picked up the food? Nothing. No utensils, no napkins. Good thing we checked the bag before leaving—we had to walk back inside and ask for them. Not a huge deal, but definitely not the smooth experience we were expecting.

Now, to be fair, the burgers that other folks in our group ordered were actually pretty great—juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared. So maybe this place shines more with handhelds than pasta. But for us seafood lovers, the experience was a major letdown.

We were hoping for a memorable local meal to celebrate the day. What we got instead was a dry, forgettable Alfredo and a side of regret.

Wonderful place !! a lot of work has gone into revitalizing this lovely place. I was very impressed when they opened both the front wall and the back wall in the bar today! It was clear, beautiful pass-through breeze as well as the ability to walk in and out that way. Haley, our Bartender was Top of the Line!

Don’t believe the menu. Rice pilaf to plate 88 means white rice, no seasoning no flavoring. Keep in mind they do not tell you this when you order it’s a surprise when your food arrives. When you ask your sweet waitress, she will check with the cook Who says that the menus were misprinted no discount is offered no refund no substitute for something that you might like more than white rice

Everything was good, hot. Quick service, the drinks were great. We ordered appetizers. Everything was served correct and didn’t take too long. It’s nice to have a restaurant in that area to go and sit down at they are open 7 days a week. They’re beautiful inside new building, I loved it. Hope to see it there when we come back next time

Nice atmosphere. Nice patios front and back. Food is pretty good. Better than most within 10 miles. Beer selection leaves a lot to be desired. Needs some Belgian style American craft beers.
