Absolutely outstanding! This Japanese-Thai restaurant delivers the perfect balance of flavor, freshness, and presentation. Every dish tasted authentic and beautifully prepared — from the sushi rolls bursting with freshness to the aromatic Thai curries cooked to perfection. The staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about the experience. The atmosphere is calm, modern, and inviting — perfect for both casual meals and date nights. Highly recommend this place for anyone who appreciates real Japanese and Thai cuisine done right!
The service was just as impressive. The staff was so warm and friendly, constantly checking on us and refilling our drinks without us having to ask. They made us feel completely welcome from the moment we walked in. The interior design was so modern and cool. I loved the cool KAWS decoration & Sculpture at the entrance! We didn’t even realize we stayed past closing because we were catching up with friends, but the staff never rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable — they handled it with total grace.
This place is a gem, and it’s officially one of my new favorite spots whenever I’m back in my hometown. Can’t wait to return!
Update: We have been back two other times since this review! Definitely our new favorite sushi place when we’re in town!
But you should visit Koi though. At least once. I came with a party of nine (9) and it was a pretty flawless time. The service was great (shout-out to Max), the food was delicious, and the ambiance felt nice.
Max was very prompt on fulfilling our various requests throughout dinner. Generally friendly and pleasant. A different person also asked me if the food was okay when she noticed I wasn’t eating my papaya salad. It was good; I was just saving it to bring home to eat with rice since I ordered sushi and was a little full.
Speaking of the sushi, I ordered the salmon avocado roll and Sparkle of Love roll. The latter was superb, probably one of the better special rolls I’ve had in a while. The former was pretty good but unfortunately, it still did not reach the heights of the salmon avocado roll I had from Pacific Asian Bistro (don’t know if you should get it from there anymore though). The salmon was not as melt in my mouth. It had a bit of resistance. Still good, just not perfection. The proportion of salmon/avocado to rice was great though.
Side note: the wasabi here is milder I think. I mixed enough to turn my soy sauce greenish, and it did not have that strong hit up my nasal cavity as strong wasabi is wont to do.
Other people in my party ordered curries and the Tom Kha soup and said those were delicious. I stole some sashimi from the people who ordered the Koi Love Boat and that was also pretty good.
Second side note: if you enjoy spice, consider asking for at least level 4 or 5. Since this was my first time, I asked for level 3 for my papaya salad and it seemed very mild. Just a bit of tingle but not particularly spicy.
We got the fried ice cream and mochi ice cream for dessert and while they were good, I would not say they’re special.
Overall, very good.
We arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. If you don’t mind eating a bit later, there were plenty of tables past 7:30.
Oh, they also gave two little appetizers on the house which was very nice of them.
Prices seem very reasonable for the food and experience. So I think it deserves at least a try. Hopefully your experience will be as good as mine.
They start you off with a complimentary fried imitation crab appetizer. We’ve sampled their Pad Thai, Hibachi, Curry, Katsu, and a variety of sushi. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The service is consistently excellent.
Because it’s conveniently close to home, this restaurant is destined to be one of our go‑to for both lunch and dinner.
