I mean it’s a very weird vibe. They have a lot of orders, but no one eats in there. Maybe it was take home dinner hour. The menu is unnecessarily complicated. Has too much going on. Sometimes too much can be crazy. There were baskets and boxes everywhere. Just weird. Sandwich had lots of stuff on it, but nothing to talk about. Wheat bread was great. And it’s overpriced. 13.00 for a sandwich. A club sandwich. Stop it. The staff was nice, but they were not like amazing. I mean the thin woman with the Black hair and ponytail and chocolate skin tone was very nice and on top of it. Angel the sandwich artist was working fast. Absolutely one of the finest well crafted sandwiches establishments I’ve ever been to. As you can tell I’ve been to quite a few. Below are four of the sandwiches that we tasted in every single one of them were exceptional. We had the crispy chicken the slow summer heat the pork belly and then we also had the steak. Each one of these sandwiches were distinct in their own nature with an amazing array of taste that followed. This was my first time going to this location but I guarantee that I will return is in the future. When you’re in downtown Houston this is a must stop for you if you haven’t been here before amazing price is great food friendly faces the manager was exceptional as was the rest of his crew.

Awesome experience , customer service was great , cashier was patient and explained prices and sizes . I highly recommend the vegan bahn mi , food was hot , fast and there was table service . music , temperature , service altogether was very good except the dining area needed to be swept and tables had to be cleaned . Not very appealing to eat across tables that had trash on the floor and crumbs all over the table . overall , great 4.5/5 stars

I really do enjoy Mendo, but this location is awful! I usually order for delivery and the kitchen staff does not read the tickets whatsoever. As somebody who has worked in the food industry, this baffles me. A mess up here or there is understandable, but when it is almost every order that is just poor management and the kitchen staff simply not caring. The prices are high, thus the service and attention should be in line. Not to mention, if a sandwich has mayo or aoli you can be guaranteed it is drowning/dripping in it which I find repulsive (even for somebody who enjoys both). Given that this is a downtown location I feel like the staff’s ability to execute an order and any mods that are printed on the ticket should be much higher, as I assume there are more pickup/delivery orders than other locations. I will be avoiding this location, which is unfortunate because I don’t typically eat Mendo unless it is lunch and I have many more lunches at work than on my free time.

Delicious sandwiches, but at power lunch prices (makes sense given the area). I had the bistro steak sandwich, and the flavors were utterly fantastic. The portion size is small, however, and I thought the side dishes we ordered—the pasta shells of the day and red beet & quinoa salad—were underwhelming (though my lunch partner disagreed as to the beet & quinoa salad). Because the sandwich was so good, I’ll be back.
