Delicious food. Awesome server. Building could be improved on the outside. Smoked Irishman sandwich (Reuben) was amazing. Excellent sauces. Wings were outstanding and big! Prices seemed low for the quality of food. Saved in my favorite places.

I have only been to KC twice, and had BBQ both times. Both places were good and I’m looking forward to the next visit.
When we were brought to this place with another 8 guys, I was not expecting much. However, they said it had good food and we didn’t want anything fancy. I thought that as long as the food was tasty, I would be happy.
The first thing I noticed was that the prices were much lower than I expected for a good BBQ joint. Beer was much less per bottle than I expected and the bartender was quick to get us a couple of buckets.
I ordered the Smoked Irishman, which has smoked corned beef brisket and Swiss cheese on the typical rye with sauerkraut and thousand Island dressing. I opted for cole slaw as my one side.
Keep in mind that this place is only about 800 sf of seating. And that’s taken up a little by the bar area. However, the bartender was able to get us taken care of throughout, and the food came in a reasonable amount of time from the large order.
The sandwich was great. The corned beef tasted like it should, and not overly smoky. I was very pleased with the cole slaw. It was neither too tangy nor too sweet. It was exactly the way I wanted it. The portions of each were just right and I walked away fully satiated.
They have a simple system for distinguishing the BBQ sauces that are in ketchup squeeze bottles. The two options written on top in marker: “R” or “S”. I’ll leave it as a surprise for the reader to figure out what each stands for.
The BBQ sauce that I went with was tangy and had a good peppery spice to it that built with each bite. It has the ubiquitous KC sweet, but with some tang and I eventually put some on my 2nd sandwich half. It all went together very well and I’d have it again.
The guy running the place and taking care of all 10 of us did a great job. The food was very good. And I wish I lived around here to go back to enjoy the good drink prices.

My daughter, cousin and I had lunch here today and it was amazing and affordable. I had the brisket, my daughter had the pulled pork and my cousin had the Rueben and we had the creamy corn, beans, and coleslaw. Everything was delicious and the customer service was great!

Best bang for the buck around. The BBQ was on point and easily stood up against the top 3 in the city. Even the side dishes blew us away with flavor, especially the coleslaw. Would give a 12 out of 10 if we could!

We are always looking for a local dive bar close to where we stay when we travel…. this is the best in Riverside!!! Love the feeling we got right when we got out of the car and the locals were very sweet and even greeted us with hellos!!! The bartender Donna was so sweet and honest with us about everything we talked about….. she alone will make us come back for sure!!! Now the food: it was wonderful and very flavorful!!! We are stuffed :-)))

One of KC’s best Dive Bars now serving up their Auggie-Q!!! Delicious food with friendly staff along with the coldest beer in town!! Come give it a try!! I highly recommend their ‘Gateway’ sammy, along with an ice cold Beer and Cheesy Corn!!! Great Spicy sauce!!

You’ve got to give this place a try. I was working in the area. Called and ordered carry out, gal on the phone was super nice. Got the combo sandwich with brisket and pulled pork and a side of cheesy corn. Pulled pork was outstanding, possibly the best I’ve ever had. The brisket was average, nothing spectacular about it. But it was still good. The barbecue sauce sauce was good. The Cheesy corn was great. Gentleman behind the counter back in the kitchen, was a nice guy. Reminds of a place I’d find back home in Oklahoma when I was a kid in a small town. I didn’t mention the price. While everybody else is price gouging, their price is great for the value you receive. $10 for a big sandwich and a side. You can’t beat that anywhere else. I’ll be back for sure. Heck, I may even stop back tomorrow for lunch while I’m working.

I had the Gateway sandwich and boy let me tell you what! That was one of the tastiest bbq sandwiches I’ve had. They gave me regular and spicy sauce and think they may have mixed up the lids. The regular was spicy and the spicy had a tangy delicious flavor with no heat. Tim and the other worker were nice and friendly. I will definitely be back with the wife and friends.

This place was AWESOME! Best barbecue! Fun atmosphere of locals. Tim, the owner is personable and smokes great meats. We stopped here traveling across country. Made a note to definitely come back when we’re in KC.

And it was friendly, welcoming, and extremely fair priced drinks.
And I did get plenty of stores.. about the upgrades, about the area, about the patrons… it was a history I heard about… but was left wishing I’d had been part of the history they were talking about.
