We randomly went here for some barbecue, and were disappointed. It seemed like it could have been the “grocery store-bought meal” type of situation, with no actual grilling happening in the kitchen. Service is average, and the so is the atmosphere. I would give them a chance and try other options, but I wasn’t motivated enough to go back. There’s basically nothing to write home about the place. I will however say that they seemed to have locals who were regulars. This says something.

Fast, friendly service. Love the soft serve Black Raspberry option. I added the mixed topping that had waffle cone, rainbow sprinkles and chopped peanuts along with hot fudge. So delicious on a nice summer day walk up Loudon Road.

Any day with ice cream is a good day honestly. I’m rating this based on proportion vs price. I love ice cream I always get a Large… I’ve been here for ice cream probably 8 times. The “large” I was given was tiny. In comparison to other ice cream joints around the Concord area this was a kiddie. You could see the 3 tiny teaspoon size scoops. we all know what a scoop is and these 3 were equal to 1. needless to say my hunger for ice cream was not satisfied today so I’m bummed about that.

Local favorite for ice cream treats and drive-in food. Plenty of free parking, and indoor restrooms provided. We had the cheeseburger and onion rings, and a 1/4 rack pork ribs plate with 2 sides ( coleslaw and potato salad) also includes cornbread. I liked the cornbread and potato salad best, coleslaw was okay. Disappointed with the pork ribs. My wife enjoyed both her cheeseburger and onion rings and said they were delicious. Prices are reasonable and lots of ice cream treats await you for dessert. You order and pick up at the window.

A sign of good BBQ is a sauce is not needed , the pulled pork was very good, great flavor. And being the self proclaimed expert on black raspberry ice cream, Arnie’s the best I’ve had in many years! The only bad thing is that I live two hours away! Great friendly service too.

Maybe just an off night but wasn’t as good as we remembered. Mushroom Swiss burger was way overcooked, yet cool. The mushrooms were also cool and the cheese wasn’t even slightly melted. The grilled chicken sandwich was just ok. The fries were good though! The noise level of the traffic on Loudon Rd was ridiculous. Many extremely loud cars, bikes and trucks – one of the motorcycles rode by on a back tire only wheelie. Not sure where CPD was… Cool mural in the back of the parking lot!!

Liked the pulled pork and they definitely had some of the best burgers around. The fried mac and cheese is just Kraft mac and cheese. Sweet potato fries are sweet and crunchy. Wasn’t a fan of the pulled chicken as it was a little dry and more like chunk chicken. They do have a great BBQ sauce station, so odds are you’ll find a sauce for most everyone (sorry, no eastern nc style). The sweet tea was okay for a northern style.

Where this place really shined was the ice cream and locals know it. Favorite combo is the Roasted Coconut Almond and Kahlua Chip. Great separate and fantastic together- kind of like a almond joy ice cream spiked with coffee. Best part is it didn’t taste like almond extract was used.

Pleasantly surprised with our visit here. Arnie’s isn’t overly impressive to look at; it reminds me of an rebooted Dairy Queen, with a menu of BBQ, burgers, and ice cream. The food we tried was surprisingly good, and we saw a number of customers who seemed very happy.

They have an indoor dining area, with clean bathrooms. But at this time of year, I particularly like the large number of outdoor tables available for use.

It doesn’t look like a classic BBQ place, but the Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken sandwiches were quite good. The meats were moist and flavorful, with a mild smokiness. Lots of sauces and condiments available.

Whoever prepared the sandwiches took care to grill the high quality rolls, and neatly stack the slaw, pickles and red onion, so that it was easy to eat. The slaw was noticeably crisp and fresh. Side dish of BBQ beans were, unlike many places, not over sweet nor straight from a can, but smoky and earthy. A year ago I was dining on BBQ in North Carolina, and Arnie’s stuff was very competitive.

Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. We saw a lot of families pulling in. I can see why: with lots of reasonably-priced choices, ice cream and even a kids’ menu, there’s something here for everyone. Good job, Arnie’s!

We used to come here often over the last couple years. Now that it is under new management, the food quality and service has gone down hill. We decided to give it another try and it wasn’t any better. Ordered the Arnie burger, the pulled pork (the two pieces they out in it) was ice cold and the burger was raw in the middle.
I’m
Not sure who is running the place but you should be on hand more often to prop train and supervise you cooks. I think this was last time. We miss Caitlin!
