A excellent place for the family when legend tripping. The Spot is what you expect from a small town with a well known urban legend. The food itself was ok but reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and very patient with the kids. The interior is very small but it has a decent sized outdoor patio for dinning. Although The Spot is the definition of a tourist restaurant, but If you’re passing through Flatwoods this place is a must try at-least once, kind of restaurant.

There were 5 of us that were in the area to attend The Braxton Brawl 2; fight night at the Gassaway Armory when we stumbled upon this small restaurant that captured our interest. We arrived about 5:45 pm and not being familiar with their menu asked tons of questions. The young lady behind the counter was so friendly and accommodating as she assisted as we chose from a variety of options on the menu. A few of us ordered a UFO signature saucer sandwich and couple ordered the crispy chicken tenders with gravy, fries and a drink. After ordering and sitting down we noticed that they closed at 6 pm. We felt bad and offered to take our meals to go as we apologized but the young lady insisted it was not an issue. A few minutes later she brought out our meals and we couldn’t believe the large sizes of the sandwiches as the portions were so generous at such a good value. I had the Area 51 Calzone. A sandwich this size back home in Ohio would be $17 dollars not the $7.49 the SPOT was charging. Not only was the sandwich huge and an excellent value, it tasted so delicious it had to come from out of this world as my mouth celebrated in anticipation of each bite. The service was second to none as we were checked on a couple times as our drinks were topped off and we were even given to-go cups for our beverages and containers for our leftovers. I highly recommend this place as it was clean, organized and cozy. We will definitely visit again in the near future. Thank you so much for a great experience.

We came here for the history, because it’s allegedly where the Flatwoods monster first touched down.

The food itself is okay, leaning towards not good. The prices were alright. The interior itself is very small with little to see inside.

I don’t plan to come back, and if not for the history I think I’d be leaving 2-3 stars.

Everyone loved the food! The burgers are huge and my husband, mom, and stepdad said they were amazing! I had the chicken basket and it came with so much chicken! My daughter said the corn dog was the best! The fries were the best! The workers were nice especially Owen! Definitely one of the best places we’ve stopped at on a trip!

I visited The Spot during my last visit to Flatwoods, WV. I enjoyed a “Flatwoods Monster” sandwich. A cozy lil’ mom & pop restaurant in the middle of Appalachia. It has a small dining area inside with tables & booths. As well as a outside dining area with tables & chairs. The menu had a nice selection of
Appetizers, wings, salads, ice cold drinks & their signature UFO saucer sandwiches. The food was hot & fresh, absolutely delicious! The staff were very polite & friendly. There was even a sign where you could put your face through & take a picture with the Flatwoods monster to remember your visit. I very much enjoyed my experience there, I know you will too.

My daughter Noel and I went to Flatwoods WV for the scavenger hunt to the 5 Flatwoods Monster Chairs. While at Location A, we saw across the street a large billboard talking about The Spot.

This was the SPOT for the first sighting of Flatwoods Monster in 1952. Now its a Dairy Bar & Tanning Bed.

There is outside seating and a Billboard that allows another local flavor for a photo opportunity. You can stick your heads into the cut out holes. My daughter enjoyed trying it out!!!

At the Dairy Bar, I ordered a West Virginia style Hot Dog with chili, slaw and onions and a large Pepsi. Noel went with appetizer basket of fried pickles, fried mushrooms and Mozzarella sticks with ranch and marinara along with Mt Dew.

We enjoyed our food outside but it was breezy.
The Hot Dog was good not the best but good. The slaw was sweet and runny, but had a good taste.
I would eat here again. They also sell Flatwoods Monster souvenirs and you can get some time in a tanning bed….

Great service, friendly staff who really went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and at home. Stopped in here after visiting the Braxton County Flatwoods Monster museum, following in the footsteps of a YouTuber who visited! The Flying Saucer sandwiches were tasty and fresh, and the fried cauliflower was great!
