Honestly this pizza has become my favorite pizza place in the new haven area. The staff was incredibly nice. Complimentary wine with our meal. The food was delicious, came out quickly, and was truly better than I expected. I’m not a huge fan of “New Haven” style pizza and this pizza was incredible. The crust was so light and fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. I’m definitely going back within the week.

Great, please. It’s been open for a very long time. They pride themselves with a high rating for sanitation, however, the date of the certificate is very dated. I believe in the 1980s, however, the Pizza and quality of sausage cheese is very tasty.

One thing that I find very difficult is finding a pizza place that you really like and they consistently stay good. We have found places over the years that we love for a while and then they become inconsistent with the quality. It seems to have happened with every place for the past few decades. I have driven past Mama Rosa’s for many years and never tried it out until my child’s classmate had a pizza from there and it looked amazing. We decided to try it out and it is now our go-to place for a takeout. They run great nightly specials. They’re Philly steak pizza is the best I’ve had. They season the beef very well and the pizza is a perfect balance. They don’t skimp on the cheese. Either( that’s something that we’ve had a problem with where unless you order extra cheese there’s not a lot on it). I have never dined in there but always done takeout and the service has been great. They tend to have your food much faster than other places. I highly recommend the Philly steak pizza, their pepperoni’s good and has little kick to it, the eggplant parmesan is very good. I look forward to trying more of a variety of items on their menu since there’s nothing that we’ve had that hasn’t been good.

The pizza here really reminded me of like the pizza you’d get in your grade school or middle school cafeteria. Not in a bad way, like in a nostalgic way. The only thing I didn’t like about this place is the price. They’re charging almost the same price for their pizza as higher end places do such as Ernie’s.

Called in stopped by for a quick slice off of route 15 en route to NYC. Good pizza and service plus convenient!

HUGE slices for cheap, the only bad thing is that once they get cold they get rock hard, and the cheese starts to look like plastic. Not good reheated so i recommend eating it in the parking lot.

I’ve only written a couple reviews in my life and I wasn’t going to now until I talked to the owner on the phone. It pained to me to even give it one star but there is no zero! This was by far the absolute worst pizza I have ever had. The dough was RAW. Not soft…RAW. There was hardly any sauce and the cheese had no flavor. Rather than just write a terrible review, I called the store thinking maybe there was a reason for the thing that was delivered to my door… the chef was out sick and they pulled someone off the street to fill in perhaps. Maybe they would compensate me somehow. They put the owner on. He didn’t care about my horrible pizza experience. I didn’t expect he would give me my money back when I asked, but he actually told me he would need the ENTIRE pizza back in order to do so. How, I ask you, would I know the pizza tasted like what I imagine an old worn shoe might taste if I didn’t try it? My friend also attempted to eat a piece. We both threw it out. So, to get my money back I would have to retrieve the scraps from the garbage in the kitchen at work where everyone throws their coffee grinds and everything else. When I asked him if he ever got complaints like this he said NEVER as I was googling them. The first one I read was horrible! So much for giving a different pizza place a try – I’ll stick to my usual couple in New Haven and I would suggest if you have a random thought to try something new, steer far far away from Mama Rosa’s.

When I tell you that my family orders from this restaurant 5 times a week, I’m not kidding you. Most nights we order the pasta fagioli soup, a few nights we add pizza to that, and couples nights we throw in a couple of burgers.
I cannot tell you how many times my husband has to sit there and wait for food because they mess up the order, forget the order… who knows. We’re very understanding and very forgiving.
We’re moving on after our experience tonight. We won’t be coming here anymore. My husband places our order through Door Dash every single time we order. He did the exact same thing tonight. He bought the same soup, pizza and a double cheeseburger he’s bought for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks….I guess there was a price discrepancy between their menu price and the Door Dash menu price (must have been this way for ages, he’s ordered this 100 times it’s always been this price). Tonight they made him a single burger (based on price, not on actual item ordered) so when he showed up the order was wrong. That’s insane to me!? Listen, the price is wrong. That’s fine. That needs to be fixed. You make your 5x a week customer his order and let him know next time the price will be different. You don’t make him sit there and wait around with the rest of the order going to crap because you want to nit pick 3 bucks. I ran restaurants for 20 years you don’t treat your regulars like that. My husband says, “What do I owe ya?” The guy said, “just throw me 3 bucks.” He doesn’t have cash, just the card. He rings him up for $3.22. We’re done. We’re out. Over $3.22!

I generally don’t post reviews. But it’s been bothering me for days. It was my grandson’s birthday. We had ordered three party pizzas. One pepperoni, one buffalo chicken, and one margarita. When my daughter-in-law told me the price, I thought she was kidding with me.. At that point, it was too late to cancel. The pizza arrived, and I was horrified at what I saw. A flat, greasy, raw, pizza. When you picked it up, the mounds of cheese just slid off. When I checked my bank statement It was pending. $146. Yes, you read correctly. I had my daughter-in-law call. To make sure there was no mistake. $60 just for the margarita. When I checked my bank statement this morning, The posted charge was $156. What a disappointment that I had wasted all that money, especially around Christmas time. And was quite embarrassed at what my guests had to eat.

Let me share with you a little background. I lived in NY for 23 years, and moved to CT. Since then, I couldn’t find a pizza place that reminded me of home. CT has great pizza, don’t get me wrong, but everywhere I’ve gone, there was always something missing.

Enter Mama Rosa’s, a place me and my wife happened to find tucked away in North Haven. The first time we tried, goodness, I fell over. THIS PIZZA IS SO GOOD. It’s almost EXACTLY like a NY Style pizza!

But surely, it can’t be consistent, right? WRONG. We got it maybe 7 more times, all different pizzas, throughout a few months, and man, ITS ALWAYS GOOD!

Today, for the first time, we decided to try something else; a grinder. I got a chicken parm, and my wife got a steak and cheese. We told ourselves, surely, they only specialize in pizza, no way the grinder can be as good…

…WHAT. LO’ AND BEHOLD, THE GRINDER WAS A HIT, both of them!

Which is why I’m writing this review. This is the best pizza place I’ve been to since I’ve lived here in CT. Please keep this place around, there’s truly nothing like it.

Thank you, Mama Rosa’s!
