Beautiful location with stunning Lake Macatawa views. I’ve been looking forward to trying Playa for quite some time, and maybe I set my expectations too high. I want to give it 2 stars, and I am being generous with three stars because I did go on a Monday night- typically a lousy night for good food because regular chefs usually have Mondays off!
I was surprised by the tortilla chips that tasted like the store brand from Meijer. The rice tasted like boxed, processed rice. Mediocre, unauthentic salsas. Everything was quite bland with a bit of heat. The tequila selection looks amazing, but we didn’t have any drinks.

For reference, we dined for lunch several afternoons in July 2023. They have a prime location, great service and good food! This fresh-mex restaurant is pet friendly and has outdoor seating complete with a view. The service was on point, Olivia was amazing! We ordered pork & carne asada tacos (tacos are $4 off on Tuesdays) and a pork burrito, all were tender and delicious. The pork burrito was stuffed with tons of lean pork and full flavor. They have a great variety of salsas & tequila, the spicy pineapple salsa was our favorite.

The location was fabulous; conveniently located near Lake Michigan along Ottawa Beach Road. There is ample free parking available. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and attractively furnished. Host staff were prompt, professional, and courteous. Wait staff was attentive and prompt. The food ordered, guacamole appetizer and tacos, were delicious and presented beautifully. The flavors were unique and creative. The cocktails, margaritas, were homemade and excellent. I look forward to my next visits.

The drinks and the patio are all the vibes you need. The food is a bit over priced for how much you get and is nothing too special as it lacks flavor. They have many tequila mixed drinks featured but also have different kinds of liquor and a full bar including beer/seltzer. We love going here for drinks and sit out on their nice patio.

Disappointed with this place. Staff didn’t seem to care much about customers, we sat at the bar and it took a min to be recognized (only 4 others there), we had to ask for both a food menu and drink menu, then the first 2 drinks I tried to order-were out. Settled on a third choice and it was actually good tasting, which was the only positive thing here. They were out of Birria, so we settled on just ordering some appetizers, the cheese sauce was the worse attempt at a queso dip I have tried, it was like pudding. The pineapple salsa was overly spicy and needed salt and flavor other then spicy jalapeño. The chips I feel were store brand, needed salt, which was nowhere to be found, like our napkins and silverware that needed to be asked for. All this and the prices seem much to high for what you get. They seem to want to be high end but the food and customer service doesn’t match.

2023_08_04 we had a nice dinner, just my wife and I. The wait was 30 minutes so we took a quick drive through the state park and then had a drink and appetizer at the bar. The food was great! Good service and great views on such a beautiful weather night.

We got the nachos with chihuahua cheese, chorizo, spiced jalapeños & pickled onions. I got the chicken bowl/salad option. Definitely too much to eat! All very good & tasty. The Austin Eastcider’s Original was great. Highly recommend $$

I go back and forth with this place but lately it’s been really good. Miss the rice bowls though! And i will make it 5* because the patio is dog friendly, Holland doesn’t have enough of that.
If you like salads, I recommend the green goddess salad + pork. The dressing is great and the kitchen does a good job with it.

Atmosphere and the drinks were great! The food was sub par for the price. Waited an hour to get a table (put our name in at 6pm – rush hour). Overall a huge improvement compared to the previous restaurant at this location!

High end fancy Mexican Restaurant. Great atmosphere but can be a little loud with doors closed. Pretty good made from scratch cocktail Margaritas. Food was fine. Ordered breakfast tacos.
