I called to order tamales and a champurrado for our office for the first time because I heard great things about this place. I messed up the original order because the date I needed them for was wrong. The lady on the phone quoted me a price and told me she will have them ready on the new date. She made the call very pleasant and left me feeling pleased.

The day that my coworker went up there to pick them up was another story. We called ahead of time to confirm the order was ready. They quoted us double the price this time. I negotiated a new order because that was unfair and not was previously stated to us. So, when my coworker went up there to pay and pick the order up she told me that she received the worst customer service ever. She said the lady starting talking about me saying that I was crazy because I had to change the order a few times…She said I lied about the price and some other nonsense. My coworker had to shut her criticisms down and defend me. Then the lady insulted her by calling her crazy because she charged us inaccurately at the end.

At the end of the day. I will never go back there. The tamales were great anyway. Way too much masa. Not enough filling and the texture of the masa in the banana leaves was way too mushy. We were happy and paid way too much. There are better tamales at Northgate Market and they are cheaper. Wasn’t impressed.

I’m wishing better luck for the next person.

This is my absolute go-to for the best tamales in San Diego. I’m a huge fan of banana leaf tamales and this place never disappoints. Don’t be weary of the name, they can actually master multiple things. The owner is the kindest man and is very hard-working. You can taste the integrity in their food. My favorite are the green pork tamales in the banana leaf!

TAMALES!!! My wife is from Durango, our children born and raised in Tijuana/Rosarito. I surprised them with a dozen (all 5 offerings). Their review speaks loud and clear- “best tamales I have had in the US!!!” Not a single tamale has even compared to Mexico in all of San Diego, till now! And these tamales are big and FAT, no flat tamales with a line of red sauce and 2 thin strands of meat in the center….

Great customer service by a hard working family, and humble. My only regret, I should have left a tip. I will be returning for the banana leaf tamales soon!

Stopped here on my way to a job nearby, owner was very friendly and gave me a lot of great info/recommendations. I ordered 7 tamales, and asked for some cold to take home. They obliged, he gave me a card and informed me that they are taking orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas and will even deliver if you are local.

I only had time to eat one chili cheese tamale, but it was delicious. The masa is soft and fresh, the chili cheese filling was unlike any that I’ve had before.

Highly recommend, plus if you order 12 tamales you get 1 free.

‼️I’m writing this to alert the community about a serious lack of hygiene standards I witnessed here. While I was waiting for my food, I saw a staff member drop a stack of pizza boxes. My box was on top, so it didn’t hit the ground, but the box directly underneath mine absolutely did.
Instead of throwing the contaminated box away, the lady picked them up, separated them, and kept the ‘floor box’ in the rotation to be used for another customer. It was incredibly dishonest and poor service. If she is willing to hide a box hitting the floor right in front of a customer, it makes me wonder what else is happening when no one is looking ‼️‼️‼️
It is unfortunate because the man making the tamales provided great service and was very professional, but the lady’s lack of basic hygiene and her ‘sneaky’ behavior ruined the entire experience.
I regret not speaking up the moment I saw it happen, but I was caught off guard by how she handled it. I won’t stay quiet next time I witness something like this, and I definitely won’t be coming back to this place/location. If you eat here, watch your food being handled very closely!

The pizza was to cheesy and greasy, tamales were big and good. The wings weren’t cooked long enough would have been better if sauce was cooked into wings. Customer service was good nice people. Food was par..

Hidden gem. Had heard of this place but never had the chance to visit. Pizzas were excellent and so were the tamales and the price was just right. Seems like everything has gone up in price, so finding a spot with affordable good food is a major win. The restaurant is under new management and from what the new owner mentioned there is a lot in store for the future. Looking forward to my next visit, the White Girl Pizza looked promising and so did a few other pies I want to try.

Saw this place while driving down Euclid one day. Pizza and tamales sounds like a weird combination, but I like both of those things individually, so I decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed! The pizza was good, and the tamales were really good. I liked the flavor on both. Most importantly, eating the two side by side was unique and ultimately very satisfying. Overall, The Pizza and Tamales Factory is a nice mom and pop spot that offers tasty items at reasonable prices. I’ll be back again soon!

Tamales were cheap and great! They’re pretty chunky and filled well too, which is always a plus!! I wish they came with salsa on the side (if they usually do, it wasn’t included). Ordered and delivered to my house via DoorDash so I can’t comment on service.
