Fannie Cakes opened in November 2017 in the Historic Downtown Gastonia area. Although Fannie Cakes has been around since 2001, Culinary/Pastry Chef Stef has been serving both quality interpretations of what she calls Southern Cajun with a hip twist from California to Atlanta and now to the new revitalized Historic Downtown Gastonia in North Carolina for almost 6 years.

I had my ordered delivered but it didn’t take anything away from the delicious food. The French toast with fresh fruit was delicious as well as the blueberry scone. The quiche was light and flaky and full of flavor, not to mention the fresh tomatoes and spinach used. The breakfast burrito was very large and well worth the price! I havent tried the cinnamon roll yet but it does look and smell delicious! Homestyle potatoes and sausage patties capitalized my 1st visit here but definitely not the last. If you’re in Gastonia and looking for delicious homestyle breakfast then look no further than here!

Chef’s kiss! The sign said best breakfast in Gastonia, and it did not disappoint. The quiche was delicious and the crust was the perfect texture. The salmon Pattie was seasoned well, the bacon was a thick cut and truly meaty. I’m not a scone girl, but the picture looked worth a try. It was warm, with just the right fluff. It tasted like it was made with love. Shout out to Austin for giving such a thorough rundown of the menu and exuding true southern hospitality. The grits are a bit too creamy for my personal preference, but they were seasoned well and paired well with the salmon and bacon.

This is the best breakfast that I have had in a long time. I mean, everything was good! I ordered The creole bowl, bomb, salmon and egg croissant, bomb, Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, bomb, French toast all the way, coconut poundcake, homestyle potatoes, ALL BOMB. Baby, the way, I will have to control myself from being up there every day. Fannie, yall did that!

Loved this jewel of a restaurant! Very friendly staff too! We had the pancakes, eggs, bacon, salmon cake and grits. Those were the best grits that I’ve ever tasted! You have to get the grits!
The only negative thing is the food on Styrofoam. Not my favorite there.

Edit July 26, 2024: it’s been a year and this food is still amazing. I hate Fannie had to close the inside sit down part but do not let that be the reason you miss out on this place. The pancakes, the shrimp and grits with sausage. I’d consider moving to Gastonia just to eat at Fannie’s every day ❤️

The food is very good. Shrimp and grits very flavorful. Counter serve diner set up. Complimentary coffee if you dine in. I took my brownie to go. Nut lovers choice. I was so happy with walnut brownie option.
