I went to Zen Asian Bistro last week on Wednesday for lunch–perhaps they had a different chef on this day judging by the other reviews.
The atmosphere there was a little quirky but it was also quiet and calm.
I ordered the yellow curry which also came with a small side soup. Honestly, the soup was very bland and I didn’t like it nor did my friend.
However, the yellow curry itself was amazing and completely made up for it; the pineapple was nice and fresh and every thing went together nicely.
Our table also ordered fried tofu as an appetizer–which was a bit pricy at $6 for 8 small pieces–and it came with a sweet sauce. The tofu didn’t have any added flavor, which was disappointing, but the texture was great and so was the dipping sauce.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit here and I would definitely come back again, especially for the curry!
Also, just as a side note, the sushi prices here are ridiculous. It’s $8 for spicy tuna rolls as they are considered “speciality rolls”. If you are in the Bangor area looking for top-notch sushi, I would recommend Yoshi in Brewer. The quality is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable.

The first time I went was shortly after they first opened and the sushi was treacherous, however since then I tried their fried dumplings and absolutely loved them so whenever I’m at work, just across the road, I will order dumplings for takeout. Also I LOVE their raspberry lemonade; I wish I could get an order of that to go too.

Very flavorful and fragrant Thai dishes. Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are great, as is the Mango Salad and Larb again. Service can be kind of slow, but it usually not busy during the week

Have eaten here numerous times over the last few months and have not had a bad meal yet. Good service, comfortable surroundings and great food, thats what you get here. I’ve had the curries, duck choo chee, pad kee mow and chicken lemongrass. 5 stars every time whether its been eat in or take out. Certainly worth a visit and i don’t think you’ll be disappointed

This place is amazing. Not only is the sushi awesome. Everything else was too. The calamari is probably the best in town. Lots of places in Bangor have mediocre calamari but Zen’s is top notch!!!
