The meat was tender, well marinated and delicious. The frijoles refritos negros is house made and has an enjoyable texture unlike the homogenous product you may know from elsewhere. The guacamole. also house made, was yummy.
The queso fundido is made with Oxaca cheese, giving it a stretchy and less runny texture than I’ve come to expect elsewhere. It’s been 35 years since I had anything comparable.
The chips are firmer than the usual, really great for dipping.
My wife really enjoyed the beet taco, unlike any taco she’s had before.
Service was attentive and friendly.
The decor makes for a festive eating environment.
The menu lists what looks like standard items: tacos, burritos, fajitas, etc. but they are not. We went with the tacos and burritos on this visit. For the tacos you select two from the list of twelve options which includes a roasted beet; a Cauliflower one and more. They come on blue soft tacos (again, obviously made in house) and include a side of either their salad or the soup of the day. The salad with their dressing was amazing. We ended up buying some of the cilantro lime salad dressing to take home! The soup of the day was a sweet corn soup which we could have eaten by the gallon.
The burritos also come with multiple choices of fillings and then you can have them plain, naked (no tortilla – in other words, a bowl), fried, or drowned (which means covered in a sauce). Flavors of all the ones we tried were wonderful.
The décor was nice and the service was very quick and accommodating. The servers brought over the food as soon as it was ready and did not wait for the “right” server to be available. Our server kept checking on our progress and to see if we wanted or needed anything. Very nicely done.
We will definitely come back as we did not touch any of the specials nor did we do justice to the other parts of the menu which include combination of Fajitas, Enchiladas, Quesadillas, and more classic dishes.
Tres leches cake to wash off that terrible “chicken” was great. Wished they had additional flavors instead of plain white vanilla cake.
Would not recommend or come back, close enough but still not Mexican enough for my taste.
The food was good, the presentation was exceptional, as for the flavor…maybe missing salt?? – all the ingredients were there, but they didn’t really come through.
I had mix and match tacos, accompanied by the soup. All solid, I’d go again. I hope business picks up so this remains an option.
I’ll visit again soon, I hope.
