Wide variety of bakery items. I took home two loaves of bread, and a few desserts/pastries.

The cream horn had the most delicious cream filling, but the horn was pretty dry. I had high hopes for the apple strudel. The pastry with sugar sprinkle was tasty, but there was barely any apple filling.

The pumpernickel rye was good, with a very light rye flavor. The cinnamon twist bread lacked flavor.

In August 2025, we visited the Amana Colonies Bakery in Amana, IA. The Amana Colonies are a collection of 7 Amana settlements in Central Iowa of German descent, and they are not Amish. The Amana Colonies Bakery food looked and smelled delicious. We bought a strawberry strudel. Apparently, the Amana Colonies are the most visited tourist attraction in Iowa, and it is easy to see why this is true.

I wish I read the reviews before coming here. Our family spent $60 on sandwiches. We thought it would be a sub type or something no you get a sandwich worth $5 dollars at best. Over $20 on just 3 plain peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are you kidding me?? The other two sandwiches I could have made at home in 2 minutes that cost us almost 20 dollars each? I could have went to Texas Roadhouse or Olive Garden and it would have been cheaper. Severely disappointed and we will never be back. It also took about 10-15 minutes to even make those simple simple sandwiches. Waste of time, money, and experience.

My friend is allergic to nuts and peanuts. She asked the staff twice if there were nuts in the monster cookie she had. The staff had a very unpleasant tone when being asked. Most importantly, the staff failed to tell her that there was peanut butter in the cookie. Pea-nuts are nuts. The staff was not knowledgeable enough which caused her to have an allergic reaction and black out. Thankfully she is now safe.

My friends and I got food at this cafe during Octoberfest and had a less than fun situation unfold here. A friend in our group had a severe peanut allergy and got a monster cookie. She asked multiple times if the cookie had nuts in it to which the people working there said no twice. Our friend eats the cookie and starts to have an allergic reaction right away. We later learn from the workers that there is peanut butter in the cookie. What was supposed to be a fun day quickly turned into a scary and almost life threatening experience. And on top of that, when my friend wanted to get a refund after her experience, they dismissed her saying “It’s common knowledge that a monster cookie has peanut butter.” when it is obviously not. This behavior, trying to turn the blame onto the person who’s life was threatened due to their allergic reaction was absolutely disgusting and unprofessional. Please do better.

Bought several cookies for a family dinner. Many of them we stale and brittle enough to need a sharp knife to cut through. At first we thought it was the style of cookie, but realized after trying several types that the bottoms were soft but the tops (which had been exposed to air) were significantly firmer, and had off flavors. Estimate they had been sitting in the case several days before we bought them to become this dry. The few that were fresh were very good—sad to have so many different kinds which had been left out so long.

Spent $38 on a tiny breakfast sandwich, a thin turkey sandwich and a pastry…the turkey sandwich was one thin slice of deli turkey, one tiny tomato and lettuce piece a ton of mayo and no cheese…everything we had was very blah and not very good at all.

If you want to pay $13 for a lunchmeat sandwich on 2 slices of regular bread – very little meat, 1 slice – no chips or additions – then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would skip their sandwich and go elsewhere.
