I’ll start with some positives…the shop is really nice with some nice table and chairs to eat in. The service was nice and friendly. Sadly, this is where the positives ended. We got salt and pepper squid which was okish, the chips were low quality and not cooked well. The battered flake was the worst I have ever eaten, how dare you charge such high prices for old fish that had clearly spent many days in a freezer just to be thawed out and sold. We took the fish away to eat it, had we have had time I would have taken it back for a full refund. Do better or sell up and move on…

Really a nice place for seafood! Fresh oysters, very tasty scallop pies at a reasonable price. It was my first time trying the Tasmanian made southern ocean soda recommended by the staff, and it was amazing. We finished off the meal with Tasmanian ice cream. The lady working in the shop was really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Probably best fish and tartar sauce I had in my life, (blue travelly). Fish was super fresh, thick filet in a perfectly fried thick golden crumb. Tartar sauce was freshly made with bits of pickle and red onion, simply delicious . Chips were top quality as well. The slightly higher price was fully justified by top quality sea food produce, highly recommended. We’ve eaten at the other local fish and chips stores and they are not as good and the price is the same.

Enjoyed a dozen beautiful oysters here followed by one of their homemade scallop pies. Delicious food! Warm and friendly service. Great place to taste Tasmania’s finest.

Best fish and chips and oysters we’ve had in Tasmania! The only minor point — the portion of fish could be slightly larger.

We did intend to go to the wine bar for pizza and wine but it was closed due to illness, so we popped in here for fish and chips. We went with flake as the flathead was crumbed. The fish was tasty maybe a little overcooked for my liking. The batter was the thickest batter I have ever seen and so filling we couldn’t finish it all. The chips were cooked well. The young lady behind the counter was lovely and friendly. It was very quiet that night with only 2 other people in the cafe. Not a bad meal with a lovely outlook over the town and ocean.

I had a fantastic experience at this place! The Stanley fish and chips were absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. The overall taste of the food was top-notch. The cleanliness and tidiness of the place caught my attention, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere.
The customer service was excellent – the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure I felt well taken care of throughout my visit. Additionally, I was pleased to discover that they also sell fresh fish. I highly recommend this spot for a great meal and wonderful service.

We tried the fish and chips today and it was absolutely amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious. I think they’re trying to be sustainable by using only local ingredients. The waitresses were so nice and you can tell they’re doing it because they love their hometown and the place. I highly recommend going there! Also, the homemade tartar sauce was perfect! They won an award for best fish and chips in 2023/24.
