Reviews
The food was outstanding—everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. My personal favorites were the Salmon Gravlax and the Halibut, both of which were cooked to perfection. The drink menu didn’t disappoint either; they have a solid wine selection and the cocktails were amazing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal in a cozy setting!
The mains are stunning! The sole is so decadent, and the pork tenderloin is lean but tender.
For appetizers we got the oysters and they were ok – small and the sauce was overpowering.
The desserts we got the pistachio crème brûlée which was shockingly good. The chocolate cake with amaretto jelly was wayyy too rich and intense though and we regretted it haha
Overall pretty solid, the dinner set was good value
I was really excited to try Caché based upon all the reviews I had read, so on a recent visit to San Francisco I made a point to try it. Well, I was sorely disappointed. The menu was the same as I had seen online, and to be honest, I didn’t love what I saw, but I thought “oh but it must be good, because after all this is San Francisco and the bar is high.” We shared the yellow fin tuna appetizer thing, which was OK, but nothing special – their twist on it is a very lightly spicy ketchup like sauce that I didn’t care for, but my dining companion liked it. I had the pork tenderloin for my main, which was fine, but just fine. My partner had a clam dish, which I think technically was listed as an appetizer/sharing plate, which could have been good, but the sauce/broth was so unbelievable salty – in hindsight we should have sent it back. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, and a bit tight, about what one would expect an innser-Sunset district restaurant. Service was pretty good, attentive, polite, and well-informed about the menu. The one highlight was the dessert: a strawberry merengue with basil and smatterings of balsamic vinegar – this was a good dish, interesting, good flavor combinations, and light enough to enjoy at the end of the meal. In short, I wouldn’t go back unless someone really wanted to do, and honestly I usually am not in that part of the city, as I typically stay downtown, so for me not worth the trek. Perhaps worth a try if you’re in that part of SF, but they need to work on their dish consistency, I do not think the clams were supposed to be the salty. Also, I didn’t find the menu that inspiring, tries to be too creative without a lot of thought – it needs some fine tuning.
The food came out quickly and it was nice to feel like we were transported to a different city for a moment in time. However, there are places in SF that make you feel like a part of the family and are warm/inviting and I missed that feeling at Caché.
In the end, our meal was delicious and I appreciate how the space was transformed into a beautiful restaurant. I recommend people try Caché for a nice evening in SF.
The food is truly incredible. Often I find dishes don’t live up to their descriptions but not so at Cache. The description is beautiful and the food over delivers on the promise of the menu. Beautiful, elegant, delicious and comforting all at once.
Dessert was epic! Strawberries and basil over a meringue. Bright fresh basil and the natural sweetness of the berries. Words don’t do it justice it must be tasted.
Stop in to Cache for a glass of wine and a bite. You’ll be glad you did.
It’s a great place for small bites and wine or brunch. I’m yet to try their full dinner menu but I definitely will!
As the event planner, I had several last-minute headcount and timing changes. Florent, the manager, handled everything with so much professionalism, flexibility, and a great sense of humor. It made a last minute high-pressure work dinner feel easy.
The restaurant may feel intimate, but do not underestimate their capacity. The same evening we were there, they were hosting another group our size and the kitchen executed flawlessly. Every course was presented beautifully and was so delicious.
Service was just perfect and warm across the board. Jeron (our waiter), Captain Devyn, the bartender (*footnote: drinks are fantastic and they have several N/A options), and the host team were attentive without being intrusive, exactly what you want for a business dinner.
Cache works great for:
* Corporate group dinners
* Client entertainment
* Romantic date nights *** This one for sure
* Private patio gatherings
***Perfect for a Birthday or Anniversary, I am thinking about it for my hubs
If you’re planning a group dinner in San Francisco and think it might be “too small,” don’t skip it. They are extremely capable and run a tight, professional operation. I LOVED this place, can you tell!!?
We’ll absolutely be back.
