I have been a regular customer of Coconut County since they opened, and my earlier experiences were quite good. However, over the past couple of months, I’ve noticed a clear decline in both service and food quality.

During my recent takeaway order, I was initially told 30 minutes, which was then changed to 45 minutes. In the end, I received my food after 1 hour and 15 minutes. While I understand that restaurants can get busy, more accurate and transparent communication about wait times would greatly improve the customer experience.

More importantly, the quality of the food has noticeably dropped. On several recent occasions, the dishes felt rushed, lacked flavor, and did not reflect the authentic Kerala style that is advertised. As someone living far from home, Kerala food represents comfort and connection, and it’s disappointing when that authenticity is missing.

Additionally, while waiting inside the restaurant, the dining area was filled with cooking smoke and strong kitchen odors. The ventilation seems inadequate, as the smell lingered on my clothes afterward, which was quite uncomfortable.

I continued supporting this restaurant despite earlier disappointments because there are limited Kerala options in Portsmouth. Unfortunately, this latest experience has led me to reconsider returning in the future.

I sincerely hope management takes constructive feedback seriously and works on improving consistency, food quality, and overall customer experience.

The best Kerala food I ever had after a long time!. It reminded me of food back home. I ordered the Beef Olath and Porotta as a bread on side and the flavour of the beef were spot on and the ultimate combination with the soft, flaky porotta was both delicious and appetising. The staffs were very helpful and co operative. The restaurant could’ve been a bit bigger as the space felt a bit intimidating and that’s the only downside.

I ordered biryani as a takeaway from this hotel and suffered vomiting and diarrhea shortly after. I had traveled all the way from London to Portsmouth for an important meeting, but I couldn’t attend because of the illness caused by this meal.

This isn’t just bad food—it’s a serious hygiene and safety issue. No one should get sick from a meal they pay for.

Welcome relief for people in Portsmouth and every increasing number of “Malayalee from India “ 🙂 .
Comparatively low priced that its sister concern in Cosham.

We had Masala Dosa, good in taste and texture and fillings felt authentic. Porotta was really good and fluffy. Highly recommend it if the consistency sustains as we had. Beef was curry so mostly spicy and Had ordered Manthi which turned out to be Kanthari so the spice levels are good for the chilli lovers. Normal would be the go to I think.

Newly opened in the given address is a very small outlet and seating is limited presently which may be expanded in near future it seems.

Good place to get your takeaways. As parking is a concern along the road. Lest u need to walk back a lot to the eatery.

One observation which I would like to raise is the entrance door donot have a door closer so anyone who enters or exits leaves the door opened which. Changes the room temperature and the cold wave keeps entering slightly discomforting the nearby by seated fsmiliy table and the next to it. Truly believe this will get sorted out soon as the management is a strong team of wealth of experience.

Overall : we felt this is a place to go when we crave Kerala. We enjoyed what we ordered. Would try other stuffs soon and update the reviews as it comes.

Priced : Very well !

Expectations:
Kochi. Biriyani ( that’s mild subtle type of kayikka and B for Biriyani kinds )
Leaf Sadya once a week which might be a hit in the town. We also crave though .

NB: British and EUians would love the taste of Kerala cuisine as the chef may adjust it to their spice and tolerance levels during the order though the authentic tastes are alway high on heat.

Really disappointing! The portions were extremely small, and the taste was terrible. We ordered the piri piri and kantari mandi, and both dishes were well below average. Even the rice was tasteless. Not worth the money spend and should have asked for a refund. I would suggest investing some time to relook into the recipes before you serve people. Not recommended.

Atmosphere is quite good and relaxing.
Quantity of the food wasn’t sufficient for the price.

I recently dined at Coconut County Restaurant and had an excellent experience. The food was incredibly delicious and offered at very affordable prices. The service was top-notch; Mr. Alan,Jithin and Dantils the rest of the staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I highly recommend Coconut County Restaurant to anyone looking for great food and exceptional service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I recently ordered spicy manthi, peri peri manthi, and palkappa fish from this restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. To begin with, the portion sizes were disappointingly small, leaving me feeling unsatisfied.

But even more disappointing was the quality of the food. Both the spicy manthi and peri peri manthi lacked any discernible flavor. As for the palkappa fish, it was just marginally better, but still fell below the mark of average quality.

What’s worse, the wait time was excessive, with my order taking a staggering 1 hour and 45 minutes to arrive. This level of service is simply unacceptable, especially considering the lackluster food quality.

In terms of rating, I would give the spicy manthi a measly 1 out of 10, the peri peri manthi a slightly better 2 out of 10, and the palkappa fish a mediocre 4 out of 10.

Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. It’s a waste of both money and time, and the level of disappointment is palpable. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a satisfying meal.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Coconut county a hidden gem that perfectly captures the essence of Kerala’s rich culinary tradition. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm and inviting ambience, created a relaxing and cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The menu offered a delightful array of traditional Kerala dishes, each prepared with authentic flavors, and it was clear that the chefs take great pride in their craft.

What made the experience even better was the affordability of the food. Despite the high quality of the dishes, the prices were very reasonable, making it a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank.

Overall, Coconut County is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Kerala cuisine in a beautiful setting. We will definitely be returning soon to try more of their offerings!

The food is good, but there’s room for improvement in maintenance and cleanliness. The place looks quite old, and better upkeep would really enhance the overall experience.
