I recently ordered two bowls from Sweetgreen in Woodbury, NY. Both bowls were ordered with chicken and a drink. My total came to $45.19. Everything seemed fine until I got home and realized the chicken in my bowls was raw.
Not undercooked. Not slightly pink. Raw.
Serving raw chicken is not a small mistake — it’s a serious health risk. I did eat some of the food before noticing the raw chicken. So I hope that the raw chicken didnt have salmonella or some other food poisioning illness. I immediately drove back to the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. I explained the situation and told them they should be ashamed of themselves for serving food that could make someone seriously ill. I requested a refund, which I felt was more than reasonable given the circumstances.
The manager refunded me $41.
When I asked why it wasn’t the full amount, I was told, “Well, you did buy the drink.” My response was, “So let me get this straight — after serving raw chicken that could have caused food poisoning, you’re still going to charge me $4.19 for a drink?”
That response said everything I needed to know about their customer service.
Mistakes happen. But how a business handles those mistakes is what truly defines them. Unfortunately, in this case, both the food safety and the customer service were incredibly disappointing. Had Sweetgreen in Woodbury, NY refunded me the full amount, I would not be posting this now. The other funny thing is that they are quick to take your money from your debit card or credit card. But refunds take days to process. So I dont even have the refund either. Because my business is obviously not worth $4.19, this now becomes something for others around the world to see. UPDATE: The Nassau County Health Department went to Sweetgreen to perform an inspection after I complained. The Nassau County Health Department on their in person inspection also saw uncooked chicken; even after I reported it. Thus apparently Sweetgreen doesn’t care.

I ordered a salad with mixed green and arugula and some kind of chicken and this is what I got. I would never order a sweet green anywhere in the world again. The prices are ridiculous and for them to give you shabby food, unprepared, not good

I got 2 meals for $32 dollars. This is what I paid full price price for….unacceptable. It was near closing time so they didn’t have every item available but instead of giving other options they give me a half full bowl at full price. On top of all that the employees cross contaminated the food instead of using utensils to scoop the food into the bowl they used glove hands without changing the gloves in between each ingredient.

Amazing customer service !! I came in right before they closed and Ozzy and Joel were very very patient even making things fresh because they didn’t have any at the end of the day. Ozzy and Joel were very kind and respectful. Someone came in after me at 9:50 right before they closed and they still took care of them!! Great location and service! Definitely my new go to take out ! Go check out Ozzy and Joel and tell them Zac sent you!

They served me the nastiest iced tea and I asked for an exchange or refund and manager said no. Very disappointed. I love their food the beverages should be as good and customer service should be as good. Manager should be retrained for the real world where making things right might cost a few bucks but keep customers coming back.

Not only is the staff rude, but they also put zero effort into making a salad. Today, they put so much dressing in my salad that I had to pour it all into another bowl. See the pictures. (I asked for light to medium). Never coming back. I have been a loyal customer for years.

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. This sweet green is clean and the people are friendly. My salad is good and delicious. I’ve been to many many sweet greens and this is on par with the rest. It even has a cool sign out front to match the neighborhood aesthetic

I started ordering from here right after it opened. The food is pricey but of good quality and portion. Considering the area’s alternatives I thought it was a good deal. That was then. This is now.
Today I ordered the new caramelized garlic steak online and was shocked at the teensy tiny morsels of steak they had served me. I should’ve opened it in store and inspected it there but was rushing back to work. How is an $18 bowl this expensive? It looks nothing like the pictures online. I stopped going to Chopt for this exact reason: minuscule protein portions at exorbitant prices.

This establishment took my cash payment with no receipt. Drove an hour away to find my kale Cesar salad full of bugs. And I did eat some of it before I realized it. Never again. No one answers phone everything is text message. Always check your food. I hope l don’t get sick. And the text service apologized
