We originally started baking the señorita bread in 1986. We opened QueenLees in late 80’s then Banana-Q in the 90s and now STARBREAD Bakery.

Great place to get your bread fix. My fav. Is the coconut, ube and dulce de leche rolls but you can’t never go wrong with their original señorita bread either because it’s always nice and warm when you order it.

I went there today and bought some bread. There was a long hair in the middle of the bread. So gross. I called and the girl that answered said the manager said … if you bring it back we can give you free bread. Really???. I want a refund since all I bought is going in the trash. Im never caming back and definitely will tell my friends. They can keep the money.

Señorita Bread so good. Ube donut was good as well! I went on a Sunday at 3pm, there was not much donuts left, but there sure were still taking orders for señorita bread is which is what I initially came for! I will be coming back to try the malasada flavored donuts in the future.

They only have a couple items on their menu and I recommend going early in the day. When the Starbread is fresh, it’s amazing but other times it can be hit or miss. Their cheese roll version is really good. The store often strongly smells of cleaning supplies (Lysol pine or similar) which can be a bit off-putting when it overwhelms the smell of the baked goods but it’s clean and the employees are all very polite and friendly.

The establishment is nice , clean and simple they do have a variety of goods. I loved the bread itself, however everything we got that had a filling (which was everything we ordered , minus the senorita bread,) it just didn’t taste good to me. The bread / donut itself surrounding the malasadas and the bread rolls we got are soo yummy, but once I tasted the filling it just seemed so artificial and not really made in house (not saying that’s the case, idk it’s just how the quality of the fillings tasted.) My husband had ordered , Coconut cream bread and Dulce de leche bread . I enjoyed the senorita especially when it’s nice and warm. Parking is free & is shared with other businesses but there’s plenty of spots to park. Ordering was nice and quick.

Small Filipino bakery that sells what some people refer to as señorita bread. The bread itself doesn’t have much taste to it, they are just a little sweet and extremely soft. They are the best when you eat them hot of course. If you want a little more of a sweet taste, can dip in honey and they also taste yummy that way as well.

Freshly baked senorita bread is out of this world. Even better than the Norcal stores I’ve had. They use plenty of butter and its not overly sweet either. Perfect gift for the office or home gatherings!

I have never had this bread before and I live right on the street. I recommend this sweet tasty treat if you want to bring something new to the office instead of bagels and donuts. This is by far delicious! I purchase the star bread.

So glad that there is now a Starbread in SD. Being from the San Francisco Bay Area, the location in Newark unfortunately closed.

The service here at the Chula Vista location was excellent. The young lady was very friendly, greeted us right away and conversed with us for a few minutes while we were waiting for our order of fresh and pipin warm seniorita bread.

If you’re not familiar with seniorita bread, it is similar to a petite croissant with the dough on the heavier side. It is warm, sweet and very buttery. It would pair well with a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate for that sweet tooth.

Give it a try, you just might love it!

Starbread is ADDICTING! Everytime my bf travels to San Francisco I would ask him to bring me back a box of 60. Then we found out there’s one in OC but it’s not the same. Now, there’s one in SD and we came on the initial soft opening. Got there 10 minutes before open and the lines moved pretty fast. We were there for a total of 50 minutes.

While we were in line, they gave out a bag of mini churro donuts as samples. That was really nice.

This location sells starbread, bread, cornbread, cookies, cupcakes, and donuts. It mirrors the one in OC but the one in SF also sells savory food. For now, SD is only selling sweets.

People before us were getting multiple boxes of starbread but then they put a limit of either a box of 15 or 25 per person in order to accommodate everyone. We got a box of 25, ube donut, sugar donut, guava malasada, and chocolate croissant.

The chocolate croissant was hot out of the oven. Super fresh and I love that were generous with the chocolate filling. The exterior was not a typical light and fluffy puff pastry or french-like but doughy.

The ube donut was basically the glazed frosting on top. It was really sweet and my least favorite but the donut texture compares to Krispy Kreme. It’s light and melts in your mouth.

It was my first time trying a malasada. It’s a Portuguese fried dough. I’ve been to Portugal and had their egg tart but never the fried dough so I can’t really compare it to anything. It just tastes like a donut with fillings.

Then of course the starbread here tastes almost identical to the one in SF. I saw at least 3 people help roll these so you get different variations and sizes. As well as the amount of inner custard was not consistent.
Overall the flavors are there, it’s addicting because it’s small and you can pop it in your mouth. It’s just butter and sugar.

Give this place a try and don’t get less than 25. Trust me, you’ll want more. It taste best when it’s hot but you can also microwave it for 10-15 seconds and it tastes just like it did out the oven. I don’t like to toast it because it’ll burn due to the sugar content. Enjoy!
