In 1974, George and his wife Joan ventured out to what was then considered the country. They found the perfect location on the shores of Diamond Lake. A great deal has changed since then, but our commitment to service and great food hasn’t. We welcome you to visit and see what’s new. This squirrel ️ and mommy squirrel just had one of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time at Gale Street Inn – Diamond Lake in Mundline. If you don’t go, you’re cheating yourself out of a genuinely outstanding experience.

From the moment we walked in, the tone was set. Aaron, our host, was top-tier — professional, welcoming, and dialed in. The entire evening felt less like dinner and more like a short vacation. It was our first visit, and before we left, we locked in our next reservation. That tells you everything.

We chose the three-course special for $60. It started with a specialty salad, moved into a premium entrée, and finished with an exceptional dessert. The food tasted even better than the photos — and that’s saying something.

The ribs? Slow-cooked for 11 hours. Fall-off-the-bone perfection. The prime rib was outstanding — tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly right. I made a point to thank Chef ‍ Carlos personally. When leadership in the kitchen cares about execution, it shows.

The meal also includes your choice of wine or cocktail , which rounds out the value proposition.

We enjoyed the evening, talking about how great the dinner was and how rare it is to find such great value. Finding the Gale Street Inn makes me excited and eager to enjoy more evenings of their hospitality and quality.

A hidden gem in the suburbs!
Gale Street Inn – Diamond Lake in Mundelein is an underrated secret that more people need to know about. My friends and I originally planned to head into the city for dinner, but we ended up switching plans and coming here instead, and I’m so glad we did.

The food was outstanding, especially for the price, and the view of the lake added such a relaxing, scenic touch to the evening. The atmosphere really stood out: quiet enough to have a real conversation, yet still lively. It made for a perfect dinner setting.

Service was solid, and here’s the best part, their bread and butter might just be the best I’ve ever had. No joke, it was that memorable.

Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great food, a peaceful lakeside vibe, and a place that feels like a true local gem.

This is my second visit since the remodel and the decor and atmosphere is still great. My chicken Vesuvio was not up to the usual standards. The potatoes were hard and chicken was overcooked. The rest of the dishes ordered was great!

Have not been there in a couple years, use to go all the time. New owner skyrocketed prices. 65 dollars for a prime rib? Double price from before. Noway never paying that much. I had chicken vasuvio wife had a small steak, potatoes was hard, chicken eatable but with the food to high priced, not that good, we decided Never Going Back. It used to be a great place, high prices no more self serv salad bar. Place really went down. Very sad.

Ask to get seated on the window side so you can see the lake! We enjoyed our dinner but seeing the sunset as we left made us wish we were seated that direction.

Things we ordered:

– Prime Rib, Queen cut. Delicious

– The beets salad – one of the best restaurant salads I’ve had. I ordered with no alterations and shared my dad’s prime rib- it is the menu ‘steak’ option.

– the house salad with salmon. Salmon seems kinda of a pricey add on but you get an entire piece of salmon. Delicious!

-Pork ribs. The bones slid right out! Noted by family as delicious and tender and the BBQ sauce was tangy. The restaurant said they cook them for 4 days. (Idk I can’t eat pork).

Chocolate mousse cake: very good!

Parking lot has a few divots and such so if you have a walker or wheelchair be a little careful. The entire restaurant is ADA friendly though.

Dessert took a little while to arrive but the service for dinner was fast!

Amazing experience & even better food.
We celebrated our anniversary here & they went above and beyond for our anniversary by providing us complimentary champagne & a surprised dessert for the day. Very generous and kind. Our server Aden was very attentive & gracious with his service. He helped make our special day even that much better. A beautiful and classy restaurant. We will be coming back!

Went for lunch with family. Had the French Onion soup, it was delicious. Also tried the baby back ribs, also delicious. Beautiful views of Diamond Lake, nice atmosphere & great service. Spoke with Bill the owner, very attentive & helpful. Highly recommended place!
