I also had the mazapán iced latte which was good. I would return as the food was wonderful and I want to try their elote with hot Cheetos. They have a constant flow of traffic and plenty of street parking both metered and unmetered. No seating available however they have high top tables.
The next morning we went back and got a single chilaquiles plate and it was plenty for both of us. Hubby added three cups of the red salsa to it, but it was plenty spicy for me. I loved that garbage collector just parked his truck in the middle of the street in front of the shop to get his post-work breakfast.
I love the art, the outdoor seating, and the no nonsense attitude of the staff. The coffee was *great* and I seriously wish I could have sugar just to try the traditional cinnamon and raw sugar coffee.
(Actually we did already go back for taco Tuesday which was awesome you should try it)
I took the other one home and went to eat it later there was no pico de gallo or cheese in it it was just a giant bean burrito. So I was frustrated. But while I was chatting with other customers they say oh that never happens they are always really good here they must have lost your order.
So since the lady saved face for them I thought okay I’ll forgive them it can happen. The next day I go back with my being only burrito and say there’s no cheese or Pico in it but I have to wait behind a guy who said cancel my order I’ve been waiting for a half an hour you’ve been serving everybody else their food and he was very disgruntled. So I immediately had a flashback to the day before except for I was much nicer than this guy.
There were no apologies or no here have some free chips or anything.
And it turns out that bean and cheese burrito sucked. It was 13.00!
I would probably go back but just for one of those mini burritos for $5 because that certainly filled me up and was way better.
It’s a walk-up style spot, which adds to the charm, but you can also order ahead for added convenience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe is super cute and casual.
If you’re in the area and craving tacos that won’t break the bank, this is a must-try!
Embarking on a quest to rank San Diego’s California Burritos! Sixth stop: Ocho Mexican Food & Cafe.
Product: A delicious, hot burrito. Had to wait a few minutes for preparation. There’s a distinct flavor that I couldn’t quite pinpoint—maybe it’s the amazing tortilla or the meat. A selection of fresh, flavorful sauces is available. Average burrito price in the city: $12. I’d rank this burrito third. 8 out of 10
Service: Friendly staff. My name was pronounced correctly for the first time. Positive interaction throughout. 10 out of 10
Ambiance: Cool, vibrant colors, Mexican style. Eating while standing at bright tables outside. I enjoyed it, and the nearby planes added to the vibe. 7 out of 10
