Lots of options on their menu and they do a monthly special item also. Friendly and the line goes fast. Food was delicious. Keep in mind there are a few items on their menu that have the same name. For example the bandido comes in a mini torta and burrito. Just make sure to confirm your order if that’s the case. I didn’t notice. I had the bandido burrito and it was delicious. It was green chilaquiles, egg, sour cream, cheese and beans. I’ve never had something like this before and it is well done. I thought it would get messy and that was not the case. Great size and they have three salsa options. I had the green and it was good not too spicy.
I also had the mazapán iced latte which was good. I would return as the food was wonderful and I want to try their elote with hot Cheetos. They have a constant flow of traffic and plenty of street parking both metered and unmetered. No seating available however they have high top tables.

Super generous portions. Hubby got the bacon burrito and ate for both breakfast and lunch on it. I got the mini chorizo and egg burrito and it was plenty for breakfast.

The next morning we went back and got a single chilaquiles plate and it was plenty for both of us. Hubby added three cups of the red salsa to it, but it was plenty spicy for me. I loved that garbage collector just parked his truck in the middle of the street in front of the shop to get his post-work breakfast.

I love the art, the outdoor seating, and the no nonsense attitude of the staff. The coffee was *great* and I seriously wish I could have sugar just to try the traditional cinnamon and raw sugar coffee.

Good prices good tacos! Limited parking near the order window so you may need to park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk over. Most people order to-go, so parking spots do open up frequently. We ordered asada and carnitas tacos along with a surf and turf burrito. The chipotle sauce in the burrito was a lot but the flavors were good. We really enjoyed the tacos and will be back for more soon!
(Actually we did already go back for taco Tuesday which was awesome you should try it)

So I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a mini egg and chorizo burrito. I watched so many people come and go and I kept checking if my order was ready and they said it wasn’t. Bottom line it took a half an hour for a bean and cheese burrito. I paid for Pico to be added to the bean and cheese burrito. I ended up eating the mini chorizo and egg one first.
I took the other one home and went to eat it later there was no pico de gallo or cheese in it it was just a giant bean burrito. So I was frustrated. But while I was chatting with other customers they say oh that never happens they are always really good here they must have lost your order.
So since the lady saved face for them I thought okay I’ll forgive them it can happen. The next day I go back with my being only burrito and say there’s no cheese or Pico in it but I have to wait behind a guy who said cancel my order I’ve been waiting for a half an hour you’ve been serving everybody else their food and he was very disgruntled. So I immediately had a flashback to the day before except for I was much nicer than this guy.
There were no apologies or no here have some free chips or anything.
And it turns out that bean and cheese burrito sucked. It was 13.00!
I would probably go back but just for one of those mini burritos for $5 because that certainly filled me up and was way better.

I love this! I love when I try a new spot and it hits. It’s so rare these days. The iced Mexican mocha was one of the best I’ve ever had, it was creamy and even had little bits of chocolate at the bottom. The machaca burrito was five stars- good tortilla, moist and juicy, and excellent red and green salsas. We walked up and ordered on a Saturday morning around 8:30 AM; we did have to wait a while for our order, but we were patient and not in a rush. It appeared they were filling a lot of online orders. Good to know for next time. Can’t wait to try more espresso drinks and food items!

This little Mexican spot in Bankers Hill is such a great find—especially for Taco Tuesday! They offer $2.29 tacos, and you can choose from asada, pollo, carnitas, or adobada. Each one is packed with flavor and super satisfying for the price.

It’s a walk-up style spot, which adds to the charm, but you can also order ahead for added convenience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe is super cute and casual.

If you’re in the area and craving tacos that won’t break the bank, this is a must-try!

Ordered the asada burrito, adobada taco, and cafe de olla. The burrito was packed with steak, one can easily split between two people. Pico de gallo and guac evenly distributed so every bite had flavor. Flour tortilla was tender but held the fillings without fail. Overall burrito was not greasy despite the amount of meat. Adobada taco was packed with flavor and a hefty portion for the price. Spiced but not spicy. Cafe de olla had notes of caramel with the aromas of anise and cinnamon. Not overly sweet. Visited this quaint little spot on the way to Balboa park and was very satisfied and impressed with the bang for your buck quality and portions.

California Burrito Rating (6)
Embarking on a quest to rank San Diego’s California Burritos! Sixth stop: Ocho Mexican Food & Cafe.
Product: A delicious, hot burrito. Had to wait a few minutes for preparation. There’s a distinct flavor that I couldn’t quite pinpoint—maybe it’s the amazing tortilla or the meat. A selection of fresh, flavorful sauces is available. Average burrito price in the city: $12. I’d rank this burrito third. 8 out of 10
Service: Friendly staff. My name was pronounced correctly for the first time. Positive interaction throughout. 10 out of 10
Ambiance: Cool, vibrant colors, Mexican style. Eating while standing at bright tables outside. I enjoyed it, and the nearby planes added to the vibe. 7 out of 10

I ordered rolled tacos and it took a really long time to get my food. I was like “what are they rolling the tacos themselves for each order?”. Haha. Sure enough! They were the best rolled tacos I’ve had in many many years. So good. I gotta go back and expand my experience there. The menu looks delicious.
